Im trying to think of a way to make a lockable rod holder recessed above the wheel well on the inside of the bed, has anyone seen anything similiar?

I've seen people use abs or pvc pipe to make these but never where you suggested.

I'm thinking a long tube on my roof racks for road trips since my rods are all 8'+ one piece musky sticks. Short trips I just strap my rods in the boat.

Didn't even look at your name. lol I'm mounting a 6" wide x 8 1/2 feet long PVC onto my Cap. Sealing it with silicone for mine or at least that what I'm planning. You live in a wonderful province been to it many times. Need to go back.

Like how you have the cubby next to your wheel well in you bed. Im thinking if making a 3 rod lock box that sits like that cubby hole but will be like 5-1/2' long

Yes Ontario has a lot to offer when it comes to fishing!

Sounds like an interesting idea chanes8cwu.

I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with as it sounds ideal for my fly rods that normally rattle around in the cab

I use one of these Aluminum tubes, not sure what they are for exactly but I've seen them on big fuel trucks and 18 wheelers. Locks on the end. When I'm not using it for rods I have a piece of pvc with cubby holes cut into it that slides out, holds sll my straps, cables, tarps etc.

    Too many to list.
Where did you get the tube? I've been looking for one for my fishing rods.

My dad grabbed it from his work, they use them for long levels and track spacer bars ( railway truck) honestly not sure where to actually purchase them

I'm envious. Got the skills, but no place to do it. Looks great!! The issue with the 4 door short bed is no room in the back. This would help..

    Tha
Thanks! Ya it works great. I put some expanded steel up top in one of the sections between bars. Great for strapping camping gear or coolers up top and out of the way. I have one of those truck box tents as well that fits right over the rack so even with the tent up I can still keep the top loaded.

Yeah, its called a pack rod. I've switched to almost entirely 4 piece rods. Rod cases are 24" long and fit in the cab.

I live outside of Portland Oregon and salmon and steelhead a lot. I would really like a way to keep my 10'6" 2 pc rods out of the cab and secure. This would do nicely. I would imagine it would not be hard to take it over the cab and use it for light mounts as well. some days launching the boat in most rivers really could use a rear facing light bar too.

This was meant for Spruce Mica 12
