Easier said than done when you're married. Talked to the wife over the phone and told her I might need to spend 4 g's to buy a new rear axle........ She told me to stay at work. o_O

Finished up the doors today, and took it for a drive to see what kind of difference their was. It wasn't very windy today so I can't really get a good idea on how much better it is, but it does tone down the noise level a bit but its nothing incredible. Im sure down the road when I upgrade speakers the difference will be more noticeable

Took some pictures while out on a drive. Also finally snuck into one of the decommissioned NIKE missile sites near by which was kind of cool, not much to see since its being used as a scrap area for the park now. It does have a second location that is a mile away that I think is where the silos were actually built, for another day ill check it out

The NIKE missile site I went to in San Francisco is bad ass! Took a guided tour us down into the missile champers and all. Learned a ton

Truck is looking as good as always. Kudos to you for tackling the sound deadening project, I hate removing interior panels since i always feel like nothing every goes back quite right.

Now that would be pretty cool, this place is very blocked off now so not much to see. Did some reading online and since they blocked off all the stairs some kid repelled down through a vent hole to get down, but after posting videos online they found him pretty quick and threatened with felony charges  Turns out the other site was the barracks and such but more buildings are still intact there so it should still be worth a look

Thanks, yeah I'm not one for removing interior pieces. All the doors were real easy, didn't break a single clip. Where I had issue was the seatbelt panels (in-between the doors) the upper ones have this stupid red clip that I couldn't quite figure out

Dang that sucks. You were actually really close to the one I went to, maybe even passed it. Its insane, the missiles would go from 0 to mach 1 (I think) in less than 3 seconds, everyone within a 30 mile radius would be dead for the blast of a missile taking off. Everyone who worked there had to be underground, behind a 10ft concrete wall, with ear phones on when one was launched. All of the workers had to always be with one of the dog handlers because the German Shepherds were trained to kill anyone they didn't recognize. Its crazy.

Not sure if you drove up behind the Golden Gate to get to the road where they shoot the car commercials with the bridge in the back ground but this is the entrance
    frontgate.jpg

They have the decommissioned missiles still there but down below, even set it up in launch position. They are balanced so well down below that you can move them with one hand (each one weighs 15k pounds I think).

Sorry for the long post, its incredible. Must do if you are ever back in SF. Free tour too

Haha yeah I actually was right by there taking pictures of the bridge, wish I would have known. In 14' a Nike missile site sold nearby here, how cool would that be having a Cold War missile site right by your house. When I worked in North Dakota their was a bunch of Minute men missile sites nearby where I worked, even accidentally drove up to one at night when I was lost trying to find a road.

Yeah pretty crazy how we built all these missile sites to protect target cities just to be abandoned, love stuff like that though

Itd be cool to make a home out of one like ive seen a few times. Then just have a top side garage or something.

Yeah they do that with the silos, so you can build rooms down into it. The nike missile sits are pretty small by comparison but some sits have these large warehouse like buildings that would make for a killer garage

Nothing exciting to report but I just averaged 20~ mpg for 110 miles. Drove around 55-60 the whole way and super easy on the skinny pedal, so far at 118miles the needle sits just under a 1/4 tank. I have about a 40mi drive in the morning and back to work so we will see if I can keep it up.

Bumper comes in tomorrow so Ill have to decide how I want to pick it up, I'm about 2hrs away for work so I'm not sure if I want to drive back tomorrow after work and grab it real quick and make the drive back or wait

So I finished the tank off with 291 miles (~325 miles corrected) and with 19gal for the fill up so I averaged just over 17mpg :bananadance: My drive to work was pretty windy and bunch of hills so I only averaged 15mpg for those 80 miles, so I probably could have bumped my mpg up to 19 if it wasn't for that drive. Either way pretty happy that I'm able to achieve that with 35s and stock gearing.

So I got bumped from work today which I'm really happy about because that means tomorrow I can go pick up my new bumper from the shipping facility and that the Gulches meet is about a 99% of happening for me now :broccoli:
