hey, thanks for posting. This is the closest thing I can find to what I want.
can you please tell me if yours is a short or long bed. I was quoted about 3200 but mine is a long bed... rest seems the same, slider fold down in front, headliner, windoors with sliders. led light array and better lock.
ive been ran around with the snug top dealer telling me similar was available when it was not. then he wont call me back to tell me if leer is available. so I talked to ARE today in San Jose and they gave me this quote. At first he talked a big talk about giving me a better deal.. then I made the mistake of telling him what snug top was gonna charge me. I am very curious to know if yours is long or short... if it is short, that makes sense... I am sure a long bed will cost at least a couple hundred more.

Really, ARE missed the clearance between the back of the cab and the front of the topper by a HALF INCH. holy crap it must leak like a sieve. Perhaps I am misunderstanding this issue. if not it seems like ARE would have to redo their mold. I was leaning to ARE but if they are off by that much forget it.

Maybe we are thinking of two different ARE issues, but the one I heard about was the match between the top of the shell and the height of the cab.

This afternoon I took a look at my SnugTop Rebel and how it matched up with the cab. It definitely comes up higher than the rear of the cab, but sits lower than the peak of the cab. It's somewhere between the lowest and highest contact point for the fin antenna. One thing I noted for sure: The appearance of the shell to cab height match completely depends on the viewing angle. It can look high, low, or just right depending on where you are standing. Overall, I think it looks just right considering they had to deal with the rounded roof of the cab. I'm not saying there aren't some poorly designed shell out there (though, I'm not saying there are either), but it's really hard to tell from a picture.

On installation, I did pick up a very small amount of additional wind noise, but nothing that bother me or that I even notice. MPG's haven't been noticeably affected. At first I thought it was a bit better, but it's hard to tell since it swings up and down so much depending on the where and how I'm driving (see fuelly below for details. Shell was installed just after fill-up #4).

Leer 100XQ. If you live in GA, shop LineX of Macon. Had to drive 100 miles but the $400 savings and professionals that work there were well worth it!

Did your cap have the puffy LEER sticker on the rear window? Will that come off with heat?

Yes it did. I didn't even get the heat gun out. Peeled it off and used citrus adhesive remover and a razor scraper on what little adhesive remained. 5 min or less, start to finish.

I'm confused by your post...are you saying that the gap from the shell and truck between the rear windshield of the truck and the rear filing slider of the cap is off? If that's the case I would respectfully disagree. The gap on my ARE Z-Series is perfect and the fit overall is pretty much perfect as well, and have not had one drop of water leak into mine when it's rained. Maybe the shop I got my shell from just did a good job on the install, but from a functional and visual perspectcive I cannot see any faults.

My ARE Z leaked bad at the front corners of the bed, they took it off and added some filler stuff. I don't think its are's fault, if you look at the corners of your truck you can see a crack where the bed liner and the front bed liner rail meet. That's a bad area to keep water out I hope they have mine fixed. Just another area where the 2016 Tacoma dropped the ball, that and the shifting up and down all day.

Also just to update...others commented before regarding the ARE and LEER shells that only have tip-out or 'fish gill' style windows and ventilation for dogs and not having adequate ventilation. After owning the shell for a few weeks now I will say that the ventilation is fine. I tip out the windows and also leave the center widow open on the shell's front window and it gets PLENTY or airflow back there, enough to be able to see my dog's hair being blown all over, similar to if she had her head sticking out of the window when I kept her in the cab.

I was so happy that sticker came off easily. It's a shame there are the stickers on the side.

Here you go, It's more of a dark heather gray than a black, but looks good enough for me:
