Bah, my step-dad bought a craptie diesel, 3500. He thought the same thing, however, the first 6mo of ownership, it was in the shop. He's thinking of going back to gas.

    Just cause it's a diesel doesn't mean it's reliable.

He uses the truck what its meant for, towing. The big three have the market tied up and seems Toyota hasn't jumped in yet. The Tundra doesn't have the towing capacity.
    Maybe future gens??

Legit question for the both of you. I see people say CR is crap or whatever but, what is that opinion based on? I mean why do you feel that's the case? Have I missed something?

It's not that it's crap, it's just that when it comes to vehicles, CR tends to be quite biased, been that way for years even when certain ''favorites'' of their have a bad couple of years, they still get good reviews. ANd CR doesn't tend to like ANYTHING that may hurt mother geia by drinking to much gas or diesel.

They tend to be less biased when it comes to home goods and appliances.

Do you always dream of having other men over you?

BTW, I never said you were as bad as a mod! It was one of those pricks who made me the "sausage king"!

I guess I have noticed the like the Eco type vehicles tho Tesla doesn't get a recommend for purchase.

I guess otherwise, I've not seen anything documenting bias.

Tho I understand that with the subjective portion of their review...things like ride quality ect but, I've been under the impression (maybe incorrectly) that the reliability ratings were just raw data based on owner survey feedback. I thought that's why the Taco, tho well rated in reliability, didn't get a recommendation because of subjective parts while the GM twins didn't get a recommendation because while it got good subjective ratings they scored poorer in reliability. I'm lost but, that's nothing new.

Thier ratings don't make sense. Rating break downs never add up to overall rating. It's like, hey this looks good, oh look at that, nice interior, wow all that power. Eh... It doesn't have them emblem in front we want. So it's gets a 2.

Didn't read any other post but need to say consumer reports says Colorado's reliability is 140% below average. Now that is low. No firm reliability rating on taco yet but expected to be above average. So.....there is that thing....reliability. do you want to drive it or fix it?

Click on CRs "below average" score. And see how they came up with it. It tells a different story.

Yep. It would be like CR using the bad years of frame rot on gen 2Tacomas to tell everyone that the gen 3's are a ''not recommended.'' The last generation of Colorados were bad half assed junk, they seem to have spent more time on this one and it's nothing like the older one's. Might turn out to still be junk but it needs to stand on it's on merits.

I've asked about 30 people how they like their Colorados/Canyons, to a fault, they really really like them. Granted, these are not people who ''wheel,'' they tend to be well heeled customers who just wanted to downsize from full size trucks.

Not sure what your getting at. It states actually 153 below average stating engine, transmission, brakes, power equipment, electric system.

This.... tell me how they came up with the "below avg score"????...... but are we really talking about a source that also gives us ratings on the keyboard your typing on as well? If the chart below doesnt give any indication on how bad of a source they are I dont know what will.
