I know right; f-in breakfast tea.

I used to make sick pot of double brewed Folgers shit coffee for the night watches during my last two gulf deployments. If you were caught dozing off, you had to grab a cup of "wake the fuck up."'

Just the smell of it could wake the dead.

I introduced the control room to a similar concoction from my own time overseas.

Comparing it to the crude oil we processed, they banned me from ever making coffee again...

...until the last T/A when everyone was working straight 16's.

Nice. The best cup I've made was right after we stripped our fuel tanks (and accidently drove through our trail because the OOD was a tard). We got so much fuel in our water, you probably could have lit it on fire. I remember looking into my cup and though "holy shit, its got an oil sheen!" I drank about half of it before the word was put out to not drink the water! Got sick as shit...

No, never did a Cruiser. Was on the LPD-15 Ponce from 07-09. She was older than dirt and still used evaporators to make water. Apparently fuel evaporates just as easily as water. Who knew? That dumbass OOD sure as hell didn't. On rationed bottled water for almost a week.

(Sorry for the sidetrack Tor, just here for the Dyno).

Cruiser out of Mayport did that and ruined the whole FWD bank of potable water tanks. Aft tanks only for 5 months.

We just flushed ours; took a week of no shower's (unless you were desperate), no laundry (again, unless you were desperate), and drinking our humanitarian relief stock of water bottles. I think a few tanks were ok but we're a steam shit and needed most of the water we had to make steam. It was a miserable week in the NAG; and I mean more miserable than it usually is.

I was about to say. Getting weird in here with talk of a military man that doesn't savor the flavor of coffee....

I was curious about that. Boogered 'em all up too. Lol. I cleaned one up already, but haven't yet unfunked the other cover yet. Before I refinish them it'll be done. To bad you didn't have your TIG back then...would have been much nicer. Nothing I can't easily over come though.

Purely an optical illusion of the sunlight's refraction. Purley... Cafe Du Monde. New Orleans Chicory coffee. Strong fvcking brew. Punch you squads in the mouth, even if "light." Make it strong and you be surfing the webz from the porcelain recliner for hours. Lol.

That is the last picture I took, prior to start-up. That was an unbelievably anxious time for me as well. A lot of personal goals, anticipation, and hopes teetering on a solid safe start.

Cranked for minutes upon minutes. Fuel pump relay removed. Car jumping the truck to give it the juice. Never had oil pressure show on the gauge. Checked and double checked. Heart pumping. Scouring through memories and pictures to make sure I didn't forget something significant. However, in our haste, we had forgotten to install the dip stick tube. That pumped about a quart of oil on the driveway....so at least it was working backwards.....

Finally pulled the oil filter and cranked. It was pumping out. Figured it just needed more rpm.

Pump relay in, started, adrenaline coursing through me. Praying for oil pressure to show up. There it was! 70-80 psi! As instantly as there was pressure, there were the noises, knocking and rattling violently. Could only be described as catastrophic in nature. My immediate reaction turned the engine off. Scared looks jumped from person to person. Tested it again...started up without hesitation. How could that start so smoothly while making such horrible noise? Then it dawned on me.... V-band flange clamp. Bouncing around on the end of the y-pipe. Since I hadn't yet installed the last portion of the exhaust.

Started it up again. The smoother but something still wasn't right... The turbo axle-back, which couldn't yet be removed, still had its clamp on as well. The damn heat shields were also worn and rattling around. 10 year old truck, so bound to happen.

All solved, went for a test drive. Drove it in to work today.

First oil change was beautiful. Clean and clear. Couldn't have asked for it to be any better.

One thing to note, is that the associated 2k rpm drone is there. As expected. The rasp tone associated with DTLT's is not there what so ever. The tone of the engine and exhaust is not as it was with the stock engine. It is much cleaner a d crisper now.

Through the two test drives, I was incredibly tense. Had a celebratory beer when I got home and instant buzz. Which normally shouldn't happen so easily. Lol.

We'll see. Starting it off N/A. After a few thousand miles, I'll put the turbo on. Check the tune against this new engine, and get another dyno at the status quo ~8 psi. Then move up from there, all things being good. Which will be back to ~15 psi.
