Researched before picking up the truck - it seems only big urban areas can benefit from traffic/weather, not missing the apps - nav works fine, current features for non-US Entune head units is fine for me...

Pull those plastic mud guardes off before something else does and damages something. Then someone tell us where to get a good set of rubber ones please.

Been wondering about a good set of flexible rubber guards. These are too rigid for my liking. Something wider too, to accommodate a wider wheel setup.

I don't know if this has been posted here before or not but are Canadian Tacoma's made in Texas or Mexico?

@Jeff Lange says they are all from Texas right now which I believe to be true. In the past some have come from Mexico. My Tacoma was bought new in Canada and was made in Mexico in 2013.

They are both build sites but so far, again according to @Jeff Lange who works for Toyota, only 3rd gen Tacoma's made at the plant in San Antonio have been shipping into Canada.

The 2nd gen was different and a few Tacoma's made there way up here from Baja. You never know if Toyota will keep shipping only Taxas made Tacoma's up here, that could change in a heartbeat.

It doesn't matter either way though. As much arguing as there has been on here neither version seems to be better or worse.

I know this is pretty late not sure if you already got your truck or not but when I ordered my truck, my salesman went into the computer, changed a grey AC automatic to a white DBLcab manual (my truck) and had a delivery date set for 6 to 8 weeks....(it actually came in 5 weeks) Didn't get a VIN and didn't put money down.... Maybe just lucked out on the timing when we went into the dealership but I honestly had a totally hassle free experience with ordering my truck. And so far zero regrets. Ordered end of November 2015, picked up January 9th 2016.

Hopefully my experience will help answer someone else's questions?

Pretty sure mine was made in Texas... I can double check the VIN but this is what my salesman told me after I told him about the few 1st gen 80's pickups I've broke in half due to rust... To Which he replied "your truck is built in texas., hopefully won't have that problem"

Well, I'm currently regretting my purchase so far. I will take my truck in ONE MORE TIME before I give up and sell!
    - Had wheel balance done twice, still a pulse around 40km, a shake at 110km
    - Entune resets every 200km or so...happened 4 times so far
    - The shift points are real annoying...this I can live with, but preferred my 2012 transmission. Highway cruising at 110km is brutal
    - Sound system, thought they said it was better, I swear it is WAY worse
    - Anti-slip thing...wow is it loud when it kicks in!!
    - My 265/70/17 tires rub big time (after EVERYONE on this forum said they don't). Might be because of the large plastic fenders, but I need to to figure something out.

5th Tacoma...I have never complained about the last 4, so I'm not just a complaining nacy boy, but I had high expectations. Hope they figure out the shake next week so I don't need to dump the thing, because I DO want to keep it.

Sorry to hear all that man. Saddens me when I see these posts. Makes me wonder especially when you've owned numerous Tacomas and you're unhappy if it's just differences you're noticing? Technology playing a roll? I did notice HWY driving in the wind to be a bitch, down shifted like crazy!! Headwind was BRUTAL tho. Driven from Leth to Calgary a few times and I keep in it manual shift (always have) As for Audio? I'm very impressed, and I love my quality audio. And now I'm concerned.. I have a set of 265/70/17's going on my stock rims. Gonna rub?
Hope it all works out for you man.

Ya, this is all unfortunate to hear. I've still only got about 500km on mine but I've yet to experience any of the common complaints. I test drove 3 autos and now mine is the 4th. I thought each one felt a little different, the first "hunted", the second seemed better but still apparent, now mine seems fine. Maybe I'm just getting used to it, who knows.

Either way I've been finding the ECT-off mode to be nice and smooth for around town.

Would agree on the loud traction control, and it seems to kick on real early at the first sign of slip. I've yet to fiddle with this one though.

I think with the TCS it kicks in cause the stock tires they put on are SHIT! A pebble will set it off. I'm used to AWD in my Lexus and never have an issue even on icy conditions but the light back end and crap rubber is a bad combo I find. 1700km and 0 issues yet (knock on wood)

I put on a set 0f 265/70/17's a few weeks ago and they do not even come close to rubbing.

Mine seemed to kick on a lot on icy roads the other morning on winter rated Duratracs... I think I just need to experiment a bit with the traction control button.
