Mainly, I bash on crossfit because it's so easy to get most crossfitters riled up about it. It can be a good thing, when everything is done correctly. It's good that America is getting off their lazy asses and doing something strenuous. It just seems like too much of a cult to me around here.

So I actually like cross fit for staying in good shape and being cardiovascularly superior. I like that I can bust my ass for an hour and be done. I like that there is a coach, I grew up playing team sports and am use to having a coach. It helps Mr stay motivated and get into the gym when I don't want to go. Knowing there are a group of people expecting you to be there and so on.... What I don't like about cross fit.
    1. Ridiculously expensive. I did a couple trials at different gyms and they all wanted $150 a month or more.... Yeah Fuck that.
    2. I felt like there wasn't a big enough emphasis on safety and proper technique when it came to lifting. I was in a class trying to do a lift with some light weights to get the form down and was told multiple times to add extra weight. I think form should be taken seriously due to how badly injured you could get.

Other than that I really liked cross fit. I think most people who don't like it either have never tried it or are on the band wagon to bash it. I can understand why weight killers and body builders wouldn't be into it because it's high cardio and that's not their goal. Idk at the end of the day I really enjoy fast paced circuit training.

His workouts are insane. I've done a few a long time ago and each one was super brutal

Mainly because it gets them so wound up! What I hate about crossfit is that a lot of the people teaching don't know what they're doing and they end up hurting people, oftentimes for life. I know TONS of people from different 'boxes' who've been hurt doing moves that Crossfit promotes. I'm not saying all crossfit instructors are dumb, but a lot are simply because any warm body can become an instructor by taking a course. I know instructors who don't know what the hell they're doing and they hurt people. I also know instructors (@JordanSmith127) who know TONS about fitness (he also dones't get butthurt when we bash Crossfit). My town's chiropractor is the biggest fan of crossfit because his business has skyrocketed since our 'box' opened. That being said, it's just as easy to become 'certified' as a traditional personal trainer and people get hurt from those idiots, too. The difference is that one is less likely to get injured doing a slow, controlled squad compared to a fast jerky whateverthefuckyalldo. I have friends that crossfit that have suffered major elbow, back, knee, and shoulder injuries, opposed to 3-4 friends who've been injured in a traditional gym. Our bodies aren't made to jerk around heavy weight at high speeds.

Next thing I don't like about it is that less than 1% of the crossfitting population actually look like they lift. I know a lot of people who do crossfit want to be shredded, but crossfit is not the most efficient way to cause hypertrophy of the muscles. Crossfit is superior to traditional weight lifting in that it conditions people, but from a muscle growth standpoint, there's no comparison that traditional weightlifting is the way to go. If 'boxes' would tell their clients that, rather than collecting their ungodly monthly fees, those kids who want big muscles wouldn't be wasting their time.

Next thing I don't like about crossfit is how culty it is. Most crossfitters I know are the hipsters of weightlifting; they act like their way is superior to mine and that I'm just some dumb weightlifter banging around weights in a gym. They all have their heads so far up their own asses that they don't realize how retarded they look to the rest of the world. #paleo #reebokeverything #facebookeverywodsopeopleknowidocrossfit

Now, I'm not saying this is all crossfitters in a nutshell, but from my time on forums and from the crossfitters I know in real life, this is the impression I've gotten. Jordan is literally the only crossfitter I know who I don't want to punch in the face after having a conversation about fitness with them.

I notice you said you have problems with the culture around it, so you're probably familiar with a lot of what I brought up.

Lastly, I want to stress that I know bodybuilding/traditional weightlifting has its assholes, too (hell, I'm probably one). I know that there are douchebags in any circle of people and I know just as many people in my gym that get on my nerves with their bullshit as I do crossfitters, but that's not the question you asked. You asked why I hate crossfit and I gave you my answer lol.

This was written in fun and is just one dick head's opinion, so don't take it too seriously

Anyone got a chest routine they want to throw out there. The traditional bench and incline press as well as cable flys get old after a little while.

Just select 'chest' on the left hand side and make sure you arrange them from highest rated to lowest. There's all kinds of crazy stuff on there. My favorite different type chest workout is the svend press.

I have a few things I hate about cross fit that i imagine we will agree on. The first being the "we are better because cross fit" mentality. Same thing I hate about bodybuilding.

The second being where cross fit has come to. $100 + a month memberships for something that used to be considered a cheap way to get fit in your garage with limited items.

I did cross fit for roughly 6 years off and on. Through highschool during wrestling season to get in top shape. And then through three years of the military to perform at a higher level.

I loved it. I learned all I could, taught other soldiers and reaped the benefits on deployments.

I have all the equipment for a garage gym but now that I dont have a reason to train as hard I tend to focus on the Olympic lifts and form. When I am in school I utilize the gym membership I have to pay for.

I would imagine when I finally get my own place ill incorporate garage gym days with a real gym.

Thanks for the quick responses gents. I knew that wouldn't take long. Haha. The things that were mentioned are very real concerns, and part of my concern as well. And now, the moment you've all been waiting for...

    A Crossfitter's rant on Crossfit
Below are the things I hate about mainstream CF. Note, most of the affiliated "Crossfit" gyms that I have visited are great places with great people, but there are others that break the mold and give CF a bad name. I am not affiliated with CF in any way. I am not a Cf trainer. My gym is not a crossfit affiliate.

    1. Safety- Most trainers are good at their jobs. However, most isn't good enough when you're teaching people how to not get hurt. Almost anyone can become a CF trainer if you pay a fee and attend a trainer's course. The standard should be much, much higher.

    2. Stupid workouts- Doing a metric fuck ton of reps isn't good for anything except building up lactic acid. Will I do a WOD that has 200 pullups? NO. I prefer to be able to straighten my arms for the next three days. I often look at workouts other gyms program and laugh. Workouts should never exceed the point of being able to maintain proper form on every movement. One of the hallmarks of the philosophy is that "all positive adaptations come through intensity". It is impossible to maintain intensity on a 45 minute workout, so why program that nonsense?

    3. $$$$- Who can afford to pay $100-$150/mo? Not this guy.

    4. Too damn talkey- A lot of crossfitters love to talk about it. NOBODY cares what AMRAP you did yesterday after you did the EMOM! STFU! especially around people who don't care about CF.

    5. More stupid shit- I have seen all of the following exercises(if you can call them that) at local competitions. Partner deadlifts, piggyback carries, wheelbarrow raceso_O

Take away all of that ^^^ and I love it. It works. Oly lifting makes you strong and explosive. Aerobic and anaerobic conditioning paired makes you able to perform high levels of work across varying time domains. Anyway, my brother and I opened our own gym a few years ago so we can train how we like, minus all the bullshit. I would like to tell you all that the concerns you and I have are more the exception than the rule. It is funny to laugh at though. So keep the CF memes coming. Go do some curls you bunch of meatheads. I'm going to do some burpees:p

Oh, I remember now. I said something to the effect of:

I bash on CF because it's easy to get crossfitters riled up and angry. And that's funny.

I like the fact that America is starting to get off of its collective fat ass and do some sort of exercise. I just don't like the way the CF "boxes" that I've seen/been told about from someone that goes there seem to operate. There is 1 here in town that seems to do things the right way. They actually videoed their routine one day and let the rest of the class watch it and pointed out when the form was suffering. Then told them to lighten the load/intensity for their next session and focus on form.

I agree with a lot of things that have been said regarding crossfit. I myself, went on a daily basis for some length of time when it first started out and before anyone knew really what kind of shit show it would turn into. I think we had 10 total members. That being said, I still incorporated a lot of things I learned regarding programming into my current training. I believe metcons, Olympic lifting/powerlifting, and bodybuilding all should have their place in a training program given the particular goal of that training cycle. Often times I focus heavily on one but I am always in the best shape, from a movement/efficiency, standpoint when I am incorporating all three.
