I have one on order and I'm having a difficult time deciding whether I should just cancel and get a 4Runner or not.

Test drive the Tacoma and if it has the buzz tell them you aren't buying it because of that and if that dealership wanted your business they should let Toyota know this cost them a sale. Wait a week or so and go back for the T4r otherwise the dealer will be content they made a sale anyway.

I feel the same numbness and pain running from my right foot. What is Toyota going to wait for the first fatal MVA before they address this?

My vibes are not bad enough to have caused me not to buy the truck or to regret the purchase. It is just annoying at times. I also do not have much hope that Toyota will address this issue. I believe that TW members will figure out an at home remedy long before Toyota even acknowledges an issue. I check this thread daily waiting for the TW fix.

I'm reminded of the formula described in fight club... Seriously though, glad I don't have vibrations that bad, mine mostly cleared up after they added trans fluid.

Counts as a win for them, still. The bad thing about this issue is that according to folks here it can develop/get worse over time. Makes careful test driving before signing up rather futile.

I would say don't buy Tacoma, and even don't buy any Toyota if you have other brands/models on your short list.

I am truly appalled that in this day and age, we see basic, yet serious design issues like that. I don't see how could be lousy manufacturing problem.

If anything cars are much more complex in the modern day and I am impressed at the engineering feat.

There are always bugs in the early versions of complex systems, it's what the maker does when they crop up that counts.

FYI - I spoke to the creator of this thread before I took delivery. Drove the truck on the highway and side streets. I was very careful and looked in the RPM range - the vibe was not there--truck ran smooth as it should. Vibe started at 2200 miles. Now I have a $41,000 truck I can't drive. Looks nice parked though. Maybe I can plant some flowers in the bed.

No with taxes this cost $41,000. The truck has 2600 miles. Parked - can't drive it.

I share your sadness. I have owned many problem free Toyota products. You buy a Toyota and expect that you can repair it right? No known fix. What a shame.

I dont have a '16 but have been keeping up w/ this thread and it was sounding like people were beginning to gain some traction with regard to tinkering w/ the heat shields...removing one or the other and changing the harmonics of the associated buzz, etc.

Just curious, with all the people that seem to have this problem, and the severity of it (rendering the vehicle useless by some accounts), why hasn't anyone just temporarily removed all of those heat shields to see if that is actually the issue. I would think it's a pretty easy theory to test. Why wait around for toyota if it's just a few scews to loosen here & there? Good luck w/ it all...hope a resolution is found soon.

It's possible the wind could be shaking the shields at speed. Has anyone replaced their u-joints? It's obvious they're needing service, maybe that's the vib?

I'm now of the opinion that it is more than just heat shields. I still think they contribute to the issue. Myself and Danielnc06 have still been tinkering with this and making progress it seems, and what may be another source of vibration has been identified. As I mentioned, earlier this week I did start a new ticket with Toyota and include the observations so far, hoping to help Toyota maybe if they have not had much time yet to troubleshoot this. We may be just working symptoms of a larger problem, or maybe they are the roots of the problem. Can't say yet for sure.

I've stopped posting the up & down details of what is being tried because it seems like now this thread just gravitates more towards negativity. Big time. And I get it. I went through a phase/emotion where I also needed to vent on why this is even a problem, and how come it is not fixed. But I'm over that, and would rather invest energy into maybe identifying and/or fixing the problem so I can be completely satisfied with an otherwise pretty nice truck.

Keep calling Toyota and maybe your dealers though... it's good to let them know it is still not fixed! That's the part I don't think I've done enough of at this point.

Appreciate what you're doing, without reading every post have you ruled out the u joints?

Curious as to what else you have found besides removing heat shields as source if the Vibe? Although, truth be told, I'm not a Taco owner yet I am following this thread very closely because I really want to purchase a TRD OR 4x4 but this vibe is holding me back :-( I really do hope this has a resolve as the other mid size trucks are no competition for quality and aesthetics IMHO of the Taco, otherwise I would have to get a full size pick up which I would like to avoid.

I waited 3 months for my new TRDOR 4X4 to come in. I was unable to close the deal that morning, but I dropped in to see and drive the truck. First drive I noticed the buzzing or vibrations in the steering wheel through certain RPM ranges. I returned from the drive and reported it to the sales manager who blew it off. I had to go to work and planned on returning that evening to close the deal, so they told me to take the truck with me. I drove the truck to work and returned to the dealership later that day. By the time I got back to the dealership I told them to keep it. Steering wheel vibration, the whole truck shaking with sitting at stop lights, braking issues, and surging during acceleration. I was not impressed at all. Of course they had many excuses. "that is normal for an Atkinson Cycle engine", "your just used to your Tundra", "they all do that". What a bunch of crap!! I asked to have a technician look at the truck, but they were butt hurt by then. I really want to love this truck, but I refuse to pay 37000 for something I will not enjoy. I plan on returning Friday with the hopes I can get a tech to ride with me. And I am open to trying a different TRDOR.

Really stress to them the reason and vibrations! We have to make Toyota sales realize the issue so they will make engineering look at it.
