I'm starting to gain better knowledge of suspensions and lifts through this site. While looking through the threads I have tried to formulate an idea of how to progressively get to the lift I want (3'' total) but just span the spending over time. Each number representing a step that takes place over time.

    My thoughts were:
    1. Bilstein 5100 in front set @ 0.85"
    2. Get progressive AAL that will add 1.5'' and then set front Bilsteins @ 1.75''
    3. Replace front coils with something like OME 855s, set Bilsteins to 0'', put in long travel struts in the rear, and then add in the other portion of the AAL to get 2.5'' of lift.

    OR

    1. Bilstein 5100 in front set @ 0.85"
    2. Get 1.5'' block in rear and set Bilsteins to 1.75''
    3. Replace front coils, set Bilsteins at 0", get Dekar AAL, and get long travel struts in the rear.

I'm trying to find the most cost effective way to enjoy lifting the truck over time. I'm mostly impatient and want a lift now, but I also like the idea of slowly changing the truck so I can enjoy each step.

I just want to make sure I'm not forgetting anything (other than UCAs) and seeing if my logic is right.

This sound logical? Cost effective? Any advice?

What's the goal? Poser or function?

Dakar has an AAL option? :notsure:

Don't go single AAL in the rear you will regret it. Ask me how I know. You will need new bumpstops in the the rear (at least) and extended brake lines in the rear (at least) especially if you are going LT.

Not sure why you're opting to go LT in the rear but not in the front..

Function, but I don't do any real off-roading. The only thing I will be doing is driving through fields and getting to hunting and fishing spots. So I want clearance but don't need anything that handles extreme terrain.

I say LT in the back because I thought you had to in the rear because the factory struts can't handle 2.5-3'' of lift. Maybe I'm misunderstanding.

Are Dekars leaf packs and not AAL?

Dakars are a full leaf pack replacement. If you're wanting to go that route in the rear, get their rear shocks. They are designed to work with them and they are not that expensive. I actually have a pair with 10k miles for sale right now :anonymous:

    Do dekars improve load capacity?

Is it ok to go block until I do change out the leafs?

    Dakars* and yes they do.

Absolutely no blocks and spacers. Do it once and do it right. If you are in such a hurry, I highly suggest saving up and getting something better than blocks and spacers.

I agree. I want to do things right and not just do them because they are cheap. Just making sure blocks were similar to spacers.

So you think it would be easier to go with:
    Front: struts and springs
    Rear: DAkars and shocks

Is it possible to do something like this for around $700 without UCAs? I'd like to get 3'' of lift or close to it.

Shok Industries 2/0 big 4 upgrade and sound deadener.
I think cost wise I was around $1000 with the full OME setup 885s/shocks up front and shocks/dakars in the back, UCAs were another ~$450. I concur with saving up til you can do it all at once rather than piece mealing it together.
