Our cylinders are the older "classic" Primus and they along with the hardware are now 20 years old and still in good shape and that's in a commercial setting--I expect in a residential setting it would last nearly forever.

He probably owns the sidebar bitting, not the keyway. The side bitting is the unique part. The keyway is probably just a C or S 123 or 145 if it's an Everest system.

For instance, we have another building that is on a restricted keyway. The manufacturer (Corbin Russwin, in this case) keeps records of who they issued systems on that keyway to and will only sell blanks to them. The keys are just normal pin-tumbler and there is nothing odd about them other than the "Restricted Do Not Duplicate" stamp. It keeps staff from getting copies made because no locksmith is going to have that blank. The downside to that approach is I would suspect there are hundreds, maybe thousands of buildings on that keyway across the US, so it's theoretically possible to get your hands on a blank. Not easy, but not impossible.

With the Primus, that side bar bitting is so specific that you'd never have that kind of luck. There may be a few buildings on the same bitting as us, but they are going to be in other time zones since we get exclusivity for this area.

Probably more info than anyone cared to know about that!

No worries, I've been geeking out on all sorts of security related upgrades to this property as it's quite rural, but parts of the county it is in are a bit dodgey. So, in an effort to appease "Household 6," I've gone a bit overboard on a few things to make her happy.

    More truck stuff...

I've been in and out of being sick the past few days so I didn't get these pictures up for you.

UPS dropped off a new toy.

Austin at Wolf Fab welded up the new @dirt designs shock bucket top engine crossover for me. Some sheet metal trimming was of course in order, and in the end we decided to gently massage the AC line so that it would go outside the crossover. Pay attention to the last photo as sliding the mounting brackets for it around a bit as well as taking a bit of bend out in one area made it fit perfectly. Will probably get some of that plastic sleeve found on the later 2nd gens AC lines to cover it as a "just in case" defense against possible vibration.

Once it was complete we took it back out so we could use it as a general template for @Sacrifice to have on hand when he brought his truck in Saturday - yesterday afternoon - to do the same. Monday I will call the powdercoater and see when I can get it done in a simple black semi-gloss.

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Earlier I had posted about the special order "All weather flooring" that was optional for what I am told are the 2012 - 2014 model years. It's is effectively a black rubber Tacoma double cab version of the black rubber FJ Cruiser floor instead of carpet. I had been searching and searching for the correct part number as describing it to the guys behind the counters at the Toyota store parts counter always led them to try and sell me rubber add on floor mats. This part is listed at $551.00 dollars but I found it here for allot less.

    Toyota part # 58510-04870-B2

I have mine laying out flat in the corner of my shop so that it will flatten out after being shipped folder up - no creases, just gentle folds - and when I get my MOLLE panel and a few other things I will be tearing out the factory interior again and will install it then.

    Electronic stuff...

I tow trailers with my truck, and eventually I'm going to end up towing a camper trailer as my wife really wants one and I admit that I'd like to be able to stash more recreational gear in a trailer instead of hauling it all in the truck. Plus, being able to have a "base camp" and a "mobile camp" would be cool. The brake controller I have right now is awesome but it, like most others has one downfall. It is mounted in a way that is a pain in the knee. I've been looking for an alternative for some time now and I found it in Australia.

    [IMG] [IMG]

I planned on ordering one of the Redarc electronic trailer brake controllers. I had one picked out but after communicating with Craig from Redarc in Australia, I decided to upgrade my purchase to their Tow-Pro Elite model. It's ridiculously simple to install and calibrate and if you watch the video you will see how small the exposed portion of the controller actually is. All you will have to see of it is the control knob itself.

Another product of theirs that I purchased is their low coolant alarm. Usually when you lose coolant rapidly while out in the woods you see the temperature needle climb and then drop. For some cars that can take a few minutes to happen and even if you are paying attention the results can still be catastrophic for your engine. With their alarm I get a warning the moment the coolant level drops allowing me to hopefully stop the engine before I force it to failure.

I have quite a bit of electrical work to do on the truck and am still in the parts collecting phase so that I can make certain that everything goes in in one slow methodical session that allows me to ensure that each part is mounted, wired, and switched correctly. I hate doing electrical work so I want to hit a home-run when I do finally start pulling wire.

The price is on their site in AUD so if you order you will get a discount due to the stronger USD. I had some problems with ordering from their website as my US ip address would force the PayPay feature to break. I can get you the email address to the folks that helped me and they can prepare a pro-forms invoice that you can reference in PayPal when you make your payment. When in PayPal just select the dollar amount you are sending and then below select AUD.

Can you set an alarm on it if the temp rises past a defined temperature? For me the benefit is having some sort of "bitchin' Betty" to force me to recognize an issue that I could easily overlook until it is too late. I've ruined an engine - 1986 4Runner - when I didn't recognize a burst radiator hose and cooked it.

That's pretty cool. I wish my wife hadn't signed us up for the nanny monitor from the insurance company so I could have my OBDII port back. The discounts are pretty nice though.

It has quite a few alarms. I believe you can set one for anything that it can monitor. It beeps every so often. Its annoying and ive noticed it every time the first time.
