What is a good temp/time for the 3rd gen lights? I have read the OEM sealant is a lot tougher. 210° for 15min sound right?

270 for 7 minutes is what I used. Worked great.

 

Loving your finished product deeezy. I didn't want to copy exactly so I kept the shroud chrome, tinted the reflector, and sprayed the turn signal bowls with gold metallic (running yellow bulbs in turn signals as well). Hoping to install in the next couple days depending on the weather.

 

Looks awesome! You aint copying me. I copied the first 500 retrofits with black shrouds. lol

 

did u do black in the DTRl/blinker bowl or leave it chrome?

I left the smaller bowl chrome. I didn't even take it out, I just loosened it to get the main bowl out to paint.

 

When I have my retros on the radio reception sucks. There is almost constant buzz on every channel. What can I do to eliminate this?

 

That does suck and would bug the shit out of me. I'm glad mine doesn't do that. Probably has something to do with where the ballasts are grounded.

 

That's what others are saying on the first gen thread. I will have to check that out.

 

Ok guys I tried to paint my
Bowls and headlight trims, I sanded and cleaned with alcohol. I sprayed it with adhesion promoter then duplicolor Toyota black. I did 2 primer and 3 paint coats. It cracked and bubbled really bad and wrinkled. I didn't strip the chrome. What should I use to get all this off? I did this in a warm garage about 60degrees gave it an hour between coats. But my
Shrouds had the same paint and process and they look great

 

Sounds like you didn't sand quite enough and/or added paint to fast. Paint thinner and start sanding

 

Paint thinner on abs plastic is ok? Should I strip the chrome? I sanded it with 100

 

Unsure! I mean, use enough to take the bubbled paint off, don't soak the headlight in it lol

I would've stripped the chrome in the beginning. Oven cleaner works great! Not sure about stripping paint though

 

I got some panamera shrouds and 120mm halos for the inside. How did y'all attach the halo to the shroud? I see the method of attaching them when on the outside of the shroud with a small piece of wire but I'm not sure how to do that on the inside
