So I just recently purchased a 2003 tacoma a couple weeks ago and I just tried the key fob the other day. My problem is the key fob will lock the truck but won't unlock it. I tried with both key fobs and neither one of them will unlock it so it must be something on the truck side of things. I'm pretty good at wrenching on anything but I am the first to admit I don't know sh!t about these keyless systems. If any of you guys who are familiar with these things can chime in and give me some tips that would be awesome. Thanks in advance

Can't offer too much help other than my fob locks the truck just fine with one press, but I typically have to push the unlock button 2-6 times for it to unlock. Always figured it was the fob getting worn out from so many button mashes. Unless both your fobs have the same issue, I don't know what would cause one function to work but not the other on the truck side of the system. Might be worth getting a new OEM fob and trying that?

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
I recently got a new fob for my 2003 double cab. While programing it per the instructions I missed a step a couple times. I found the fob would only lock or unlock the doors depending on where I screwed up the programming. Now it works fine. One lock button push will lock all doors. One unlock push will unlock drivers door. Two unlock pushes will unlock all the rest.

Yeah at the end of programming I think you have to hold both buttons lock and unlock at the same time till it makes noise. Is there a chance who ever programmed your key fob only held one button at the end of the sequence? Try to reprogram them again.

Did you get this figured out? My 2004 double cab FOB will lock but won’t unlock. Any help will be appreciated.
