That's unfortunate. What's the cost looking like for the replacement engine?

Sure. Like I said before. Id never seen a needle bearing in the front diffs. Even when I regeared my own and had it torn apart on the shop floor.

But there is one. I just haven't ever seen it. Nor had issues with it. Also hadn't really ever heard of it as an issue of 1st gens.

Hey bro. I have done this and purchased the bushing, removal tool and install tool.
First off I'll say, if you want it fixed right you have to pay. Removal tool is required in my opinion, I tried removing it with a blind hole bearing removal tool I have it made a mess of it. their removal tool worked as advertised aside from having to put a couple spacers between the tool plate and front carrier for pulling the last little bit out. Installing the bushing was the hardest thing. I had to step away many times. starting it off straight is a challenge. I suggest removing the strut assembly entirely to give you straight access so you can tap/hammer in the tool you're using to install the bushing.

Any questions PM me as I will be alerted that way, I don't follow many threads, just check them when I get on TW.

I had the same issue. For me, replacing that needle bearing with the eggs bushing did not solve my issue as there was still play where the cv inserts into the carrier. I replaced the entire front clamshell assembly and cv's. (I purchased a parts truck)
My vibes were the result of the previous owner dismantling the rear propeller shafts and not assembling them correctly.

My bumper is black again these days. Well, a mixture of black, some copper showing up, and rust. Winter's been tough on my rig.

And why would I want to go back to the front range when I'm surrounded by mountains, public land, and no lack of wheeling? Albeit everything's covered in 10 feet of snow, but still....

I was passed on a lot of issues with my truck from the previous owner and I am dealing with them one by one.
Was your truck fine before the lift?
Regardless, there should be no play in that CV so that needle bearing will need replacing.

Yeah it was fine before the lift! And that cv has too much play for comfort.

I would suspect that could be your issue.
My truck is lifted also (came that way).
I'm going ho remove the lift, get rid of all the clunking and banging going on and then if I miss it being lifted I'll do it again but with higher quality products.

before you pull apart the front end make sure you check the easy stuff first. Make sure you don't have play in the steering rack/tie rods which is common. All u joints are greased and properly aligned. My driver side CV sticks out enough it looks weird. I crawled under about a dozen other trucks in the dealer lot about 1/3 of them looked similar. My vibration issued ended up being a bent rim.

May be worth it to buy a while spindle from someone like LKQ mine cost less than $100 and was a direct swap. Plus I had my old one as a spare. If you go that route ask them not to cut the ABS sensor wires as when they are old they don't like to be removed.

No trying to prove you wrong just giving you a insight. The diff I got from an 04 had the needle bearing in it. When I saw it I thought it was interesting....

I recommend it, he might show you his "secret" trail. I'm planning on hitting some of the trail around Rabbit Ears this summer myself, just to see where they go.
