I'm looking into tonneau covers. I am really regretting not spending the little extra to get the factory, but hindsight is 20/20. Since you can't buy the factory cover does anyone have any experience with an aftermarket cover and how is the fit? Any input would be helpful.

I am still holding out for Toyota to start selling one. I do like this one though.

I have the undercover flex. I like it so far, perfect fit and pretty water tight so far. The only negative thing about is it's rails connect to and cover the factory cargo rail system so you can't use the factory rail cleats without removing the tonneau cover completely.

I just installed the BaKFlip VP shown in my profile picture. Love the new design that still allows the use of the factory rail system.

Very interested to see where this goes. IMO this has been the best looking truck on here to date so far.

Torque has the ability to display transmission temps, but I haven't tried it yet to see if it works with the taco. I'll give it a shot on the way home and post results.

That's a bummer. Not knocking your cover in the least, I just wouldn't want to lose access to those. I use them when I haul my bikes. (although the cover would probably need to come off to get those in, it just seems like it would be a hassle.) Maybe Toyota will take pity on me and start selling it.

I want to do some wrap on the hood, what is an average life span for these products? Is one manufacture better over the others?

I made a run to Harbor Freight for some tie downs and a cargo bar. The "Transmission Temperature (Method 1)" seems to work. I had it as a graph. Started out at ambient (about 70) and went to about 170 on a 7 mile round trip at 40 mph.

As someone in the industry - it totally depends on how it's treated. Up here in Canada we get some pretty nasty stuff in the winter, so after a few seasons of, for example, driving 80mph into oncoming ice pellets, vinyl isn't going to hold up as well as it would in calmer climates. Usually it's rated in 3, 5, or 7 year quality. Also it's gotta be installed onto a CLEAN surface or the adhesive just won't last. We use methyl hydrate (careful on some plastics - I ruined a bug guard once).

3M makes some pretty good stuff. At the high end, you can get stuff that conforms really really well. It's their vehicle grade. And then there's some cheaper stuff that's OKAY to get around contours but it can be really really tricky. Definitely worth the extra $ to get the vehicle grade stuff.

I can't tell if I like it yet, I'd have to see the whole truck done. For some reason I had a desert digi camo in my head.

I just ordered it last night, so I really can't say. I looked at the OEM installed on a Taco yesterday and it is about an inch above the bed rails. The Undercover is supposed to be about flush. That, and the fact that it doesn't lean against the cab are the main reasons I bought it. I never used the tie-down cleats in my '13, so I'm not worried about losing the cleat rails to the cover rails.

Nope, but did have to cut a hole in the back to run the wires. It was a tight fit but fit perfectly.

Can you post more photos of the bed rack with the gear rack? They don't have any good photos of it on their website and I'm really interested in purchasing one of these down the road! Thanks for the help
