i know this a tacoma site but thinking about getting one. same price as a tacoma. not much luck with my 08 taco and have been driving toyotas and pickups for almost 15 years now. now sure if i can not have a bed anymore. i really like the hard plastic floors since im a dirtbag and get dirty for a living. i would have to drop a 6" lift on it for sure with 33s or 35s. never heard anything bag or good about them. its toyota so i know better than a gm or ford. thanks any input would be helpful.

I had a 2007 before I got my Tacoma. It was black (black diamond I think they call it). It was a solid vehicle.

    Likes:
Solid foundation not a squeak or rattle anywhere in it
    Manual T-Case shifter
Quick and nimble with a great turning radius
    Great approach angles
    rubber floor
    seats were like wet-suit material

    Dislikes:
    Hard to see out of
Harder to see traffic lights when you get close to them
The novelty of the retro look wore off very quickly
    Not a true 4 doors
Driving with the windows down was unbearable... All the wind went directly into your face

Have you considered the 2010 4Runner. It's kind of a visual mix of the FJ and the Runner.

I love my truck. But I wish I would have gotten the FJ. But it was a little out of my price range (I bought Mine used)

I find it funny one of his complaints is that he can't see traffic lights changing. Thats because you stoped too close to the traffic light. Leave a little more space next time.

I am pretty sure the fender bulge issue is mostly happening to those high speed desert runner type of off roader. most people won't have a problem with it

The back doors on an FJ are comparable to the back doors on an access cab tacoma. They are kind of inconvineant but it is not too bad, but the back seat of an FJ is Much bigger than the back seat of an access cab.

i agree with the traffic light. i also agreee with the rear door.i dont sit back there anyway so it really doesnt bother me. i dont offroad my trucks but the fender bulge is crazy.here are some pics. my tacoma doesnt seem to bad compared to the fj
