Morning Peeps! I have another random stupid question that I would like people to way in on. So I have read that if you use 5100s with trd sport, sr5, or stock front springs that the ride will be smoother than if your use them with TRD OR front springs. That being said which would work better for off road purposes? I ask because I have a stock set of front springs but am running trd or springs at the moment. So if I do go with the 5100s up front I would have to decide which springs to run with them.

The stock springs would ride smoother from what I have been reading. The TRD OR springs are progressive springs apparently. So they dont do as well as far as smoothness compared to any of the other springs for the tacoma's. This is due to the slight preload that would be on them.

What's up Ham. I couldn't tell you about the ride and difference in spring rates. I'd just rock your stock springs. Crank those shocks up to that middle clip position and the truck rides pretty sweet. Plus you can get your alignment in check without uca.

lol So then completely take off my trd or fronts now and switch back to my original stock fronts? I plan on putting them at 1.75 cause that should make it all close to level.

Also does anyone know if the stiffer springs would feel smoother if I were to add sliders a little further down the line

I got confused what you had. Which spring to run sounds like a wash. The ride quality comes from the shock. I won't get into the theory of mass, spring and damping, but there is a sweet spot. A stiff spring will help you out with bottoming out.

All right. Well I think I am going to run the stiffer spring cause I am a big dude and will probs bottom out a softer spring. LOL!

Thanks everyone for putting up with this weeks edition of "4X4Banger's Stupid Questions!" Tune in next week for the next episode. What stupid question will our protagonist think of next?!

The cool thing about the 1.75" lift is you are adding about .875 x the spring rate more force per spring right before you hit your bumps. Basically you'll notice a difference.

Wish you knew about caging trucks so I can ask all my stupid questions I have right now.
