Ish. I've never done the conversion, but I know a couple people that did on different vehicles. The one thing people seem to forget is that the computer might be different as well. And, it's a lot of parts, not just a couple things that you gotta swap. It just takes time, mostly.

As for a 2wd in dry conditions, you should be fine on some of the smaller trails. URE doesn't get soupy, it gets turtle shit-ty as @Sandman614 likes to say.

    Also, check my sig ;)

using OEM parts or a SAS ? the toughest, most costly part would be the transmission/t-case, if you stay OEM you'll need to find a 4wd trans and t-case, direct bolt in. then front drive shaft, front drive unit ( I have one I'll sell soon, 3.90 gear, includes ADD actuator and right side housing and mounts, I know it's good, it's still in my Runner, just the wrong gear ratio for the rear) need to figure out what your front hub/spindle situation is, there were a few different styles, CV axles are pretty cheap these days

If you SAS, do you have a 2 piece rear driveshaft ? perfect opportunity for a divorced T-case, and shorten the rear driveshaft and loose the carrier bearing ( though you'll need a shirt shaft between trans and t-case ) then you also get to choose driver or passenger drop axle, and you get to loose the rack and pinion steering. probably gain 4-6" of lift in the process

who e lot of other things to consider, just a run down of the basics

    ready to start yet ?

Yea I found a transmission/ tcase combo w/ 100k miles for $400 the other week.....it would be direct ifs swap, so hopefully that would cut down on the custom fab

If my prices are accurate, it could be done for around $1500-$1600, then I could sell my 2wd transmission to make some money back

On the other hand, I would hate to get some bad parts and end up spending double just to get everything working right.....oh decisions decisions

@Mothman I gotta work on re-recording and customizing a script and then run a test with it. Idk if I'll make it out there. Damn developers changing their code conventions every release...

Well, the 3:90 front drive unit I have is good and useable, it's still in my runner, the rear was regeared before I bought the truck to 4:10. I have a 4:10 to swap in, just hasn't been any rush to do it. Mostly I work in equipment all week, don't really feel like tearing into my own junk unless I have too (head gasket)
$100 if you wanna help me swap em out, that's what I was offered for core from ECGS couple years ago. It will have the outer extension housing and vacuum actuator on it
