Why'd you buy your Sport 4x4 instead of OR ?

If you are trying to chase down a vibration in a new truck, why don't you just have the dealer investigate it and use part of that warranty?

Because the Sport can go just about everywhere the OR can and I hate the cheap looking black fenders. Plus I like how the non functional hood scoop looks on it...

Oh I have, everyone in the "vibration buzzing, read before you buy" thread has, we are getting canned responses that it is normal when it is definitely not

Hm, well I guess that's the price you pay for getting the first year model of a new truck. Trade it in for a 2017 after they fix it ;)

Yeah and I expect some bugs but i also expect them to stand behind their issues and agree that there is one...I bought a toyota, not a Chevy..

If enough people complain, they are bound to do something. Look how long it took them to get around to doing frame replacements

I bought a sport the day they where comming off the delivery trucks for the first time in my area. I did not even know about the offroad version until afterwards... When i heard the or had a locker and crawl control i was bummed out for awile thinking i got the wrong truck maybe,,, after haveing it for awile now i have no regrets ive taking it offroad several times and kept up with a rubicon jeep for the most part supprisingly,, the sport is a beast for the stuff i am willing to do with a 38,000 dollar truck imo, the sport looks better than the or and if i ever want to get crazy later on i add a locker ,,, a friend of mine has crawl control and says its a waste of time!!

Trying to find a Sport 4x4 because I dont need the extra OR features. The extra OR functionality also adds extra complexity and down the road costs and potential problems.
Also, 99% of my driving will be on paved roads, which the sport suspension is much better tuned for.

Plus, the sport 4x4 has a sunglass holder!

Pop-n-lock tailgate. New radio knobs. Rear step.
I chose the OR because I liked the off-road hardware/software, I liked the looks better, I liked the smaller wheels (more sidewall), and I didn't really like the hood scoop on the sport when sitting in the driver's seat.

I got my Sport cause it was the only 16 Taco with manual tranny within 150 miles AND just happened to be 2 miles from our home, done sold. Didn't even need to test drive it (I did anyway). The hood scoop looks bad ass IMHO. Maybe there will be a SC later on from TRD with integrated cold air intake to take advantage of the scoop (there's holes there covered by plastic). I've owned a few Jeep Wranglers over the years (and rock crawled) and I'm certain I didn't give anything up going with this truck.

Hey OP - don't regret you have a mighty fine truck, looks great with performance to match, and it's going to last you. No regrets just drive it like its your last mile and enjoy.

I was originally all Over the OR but upon further examination I settled for the sport. I like the painted fenders and hood scoop, also like that the rear bumpers aren't chrome. I don't off road so I'll never need the off road features. I did have to have a 4X4 though.

I wasn't sure between the Offroad or the sport when shopping around. I fully realized differences between Offroad and sport obviously the Offroad had its appeal because I intend to use his truck for over landing and 4 x 4 adventures. But what it came down to for me was the look of the sport. 75% of my driving will be driving on the street. I just like color matched fenders, Hood scoop etc. I didn't like the Tupperware look of the Offroad. I can tell you because I just did a gnarly trip in Death Valley and the sport can handle anything. I did some 4low rock crawling and traversing down some very steep summits. And honestly I couldn't trust the crawl control to handle some of these situations, I just gotta feel the brake and gas on my own and couldn't see myself trusting the truck to do it for me. I couldn't imagine having the trucks offroad cruse control wanting to hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and smash some into the rock I was trying to get around. The only feature I wish I had was a locker in the rear but I never got stuck or had a real need for it. Someday I may add the Air locker but I'm stoked with what I got. A few pics from the trip. You have completely open diffs in 4lo. You don't even have ABS to try and control wheel spinning if you lift a wheel in 4lo.

Why didn't you research the differences between the two trucks?

True. But like I said It came down to looks for me. I could very well could run into a time When I would love to have that locker due to being in a gnarly situation or what not, but that will be rare instance. And if it happens a lot I'll get a locker. So far this truck has handled any challenge that I've thrown at it without Issue

I like having to use less speed with the locker engaged, I was super jealous of a FJ that I saw crawl up a hill that my old XJ had to do in 3rd gear, ever since I wanted more control.
