I'm really glad I bought a manual transmission, it sounds like the automatic is nothing but problems from gear hunting to low trans fluid. I've heard a few issues with the manual but haven't experienced any myself... Still have the stock tires cause i can't afford bigger ones yet....

As for TCS I have noticed it kicking in at stupid times also but not to the extent that j get annoyed with it. Where I live, highway on/off ramps are long sweeping circles (see picture) and on a wet day TCS usually kicks in if I'm going slightly over speed for a particular ramp.

I'm a bit bummed out about no Entune in Canada. We don't seem to get alot of the fancy options our brothers to the south get, but at the same time in looking forward to removing the head unit and installing an Android tablet. So I'm not too concerned with a lack of entune.

All in all, so far my experience with my truck has been great. The only problems I've experienced have been very minor and really only me noticing differences between my 3rd and 2nd gen. I won't be taking my truck back in frustration

I had the wheel shake issue, they finally gave me a new set of rims and tires off a brand new Tacoma they're using as a demo!

No issue whatsoever anymore. It seems to be a combo of the rims and the tires that cause an imbalance. They would balance all the tires, take it out for a test drive, come back and they'd be out of balance again. They even paid to have an outside shop road force balance them with the same result.

They stuck my rims and tire on the demo and immediately felt the same pulse at high speeds. The rims and tires I have now are way smoother, honestly thinking about get aftermarket rims though - I think those or the root cause!

My shifting has improved dramatically in the 7000 kms I now have on my truck. Seems to learn how you drive IMO, got a nice trip to Fernie coming up soon so that'll be a great test for everything.

Definitely don't have the other complaints you mentioned. The anti slip thing is loud but I haven't used it much at all!!

You probably have a bad tire. Have the tire shop check the runout and worst case swap out the tires. One of my properties is a tire shop and I see the occasional brand new bad tire.

I had a set of tires that a shop in calgary couldn't balance and found that they didn't seat the tires fully on the rims!! They kept adding weights to try and balance (over 14 oz!!) we pulled the tires off the rims re installed them with tire lube and boom problem solved.

I have had the radio reset a few times as well. Happens mostly on longer trips possibly a heat issue.

I upgraded to the JBL stereo when i got the limited and its worlds better(but still not perfect) than the trd sport stereo.

The transmission does hunt a bit on flat ground at highway speeds. Its a function of tall gearing, lower torque at cruising rpm than the 4.0 and tuning for mpg.

all in all i love the third gen!

Seeing your American, can I assume you don't have mud guards?? Apparently these are the big culprits... but I've been told many things through my purchase experience.

    I have
the TRD Pro rims and KO2 tires, so I would assume there should be no issue seeing literally thousands of buyers looked at this combo and I've yet to see a complaint. Hmm. Could be one bad tire though.

If you're having rubbing issues have you tire shop align the truck and add more castor. This will move the wheel forward in the fender opening and you won't rub. The truck will also track better than stock.

I did this on my 2012 and it solves the problem.

I'm assuming your asking what brand mud guards, lol. I'm thinking Toyota because they come as standard equipment as do winter and summer floor mats, receiver hitch, hitch cover and door sill protectors and tow package. I was floored in the U.S. you have to beg for this stuff unless you want to pay for it. In Canada all standard equipment.

No, brand of tires. There should be NO reason mine rubs and yours doesnt. And to add, I'm talking turning while hitting a bump I get major rub.
EDIT: Never mind...I see u have K02's..all terrain? WTF!

Seems I've been getting 13ish on most little around town trips according to the little readout screen when you shut the truck off at the end of the trip, haven't look much at the chart in the touchscreen unit yet.

Your wheels may have a different offset than the stock trd sport wheels, also your castor may be set incorrectly or at the far end of the alignment specs. This would put your tire closer to the mudflap.

A Quick Alignment and you will be good to go.
