No time to pump the brake. It was brake, not stopping, mash, parking brake. A pump might have made my truck our new couch.

Very cool. It's actually refreshing to read a problem thread from someone actually knowledgeable and level headed.

I would assume that if there was a complete loss of pressure, the ABS pump and various circuits have a way of data logging that, but probably more than wishful thinking on my end.

Only other non-electronic interference I could think of which makes the pedal drop to the floor is if the caliper and master was over-heated. But I doubt that was the case.

This sounds dumb, but you mentioned it accelerated when you pushed your foot to the floor on the brake pedal. Did you press the throttle?

No. My truck is a tight fit in the garage. I have 6" in front and about 3" behind the truck. When I pull in I pull up to a 6x6 to know when to stop. I rolled right over the 4x4 with a cold engine and the higher idle. While pulling in I am inching forward with brake modulation. While braking the load on the engine from the vacuum booster will cause the engine to rev slightly. This happens almost every time I pull into the garage.

So it revved up when you pushed the brake to the floor just like it would when you actually pressed the brake and the brake worked? If that is what happened, I think that puts it all on the ABS system.

Maybe doesn't help much but .... I'm glad I got the manual, doesn't have all that fancy electronics running the drive train.

I would ask a lot of questions. One would be do you know what actually caused the failure/glitch and can they guarantee my safety. Get the safety thing in writing. I'd be OK with that. I've had brakes fail. That's what the EMERGENCY brake is for, right??

If it was me I'd be OK keeping the truck with written approval from Toyota that I'm safe and the truck is safe to drive. That way you're covered for another failure. Lemon laws and all that goodness. You hand brake will stop you if need be. IF you know how a drum brake works you will know the hand brake will work every time you need it. Just don't jack so hard you break the brake cable!!

It always revs up when pulling into the garage. I think it is from the constant working of the brake while I inch into position. I did forget until you just mention the ABS again I did hear a relay click. That is also normal when pulling into the garage while working the brakes. Just this one time the engine revved, I heard the click but when I pressed on the brakes the peddle went to the floor. After I got it stopped with the parking brake I put it in park and then took my foot of the peddle. When I reapplied pressure to the peddle it felt fine. I know what ABS feels like and this was different. I wish it was something like that. I really want to keep my truck. I love it.

That written statement might save me in a law suit but nothing will clear my conscience if I kill someone when or if this would happen again.

I think the ABS released full pressure in the system instead of pulsating like normal. I don't see how anything else could have made this happen

Maybe you were going too slow for it to register the tone rings and it thought all the tires were stopped but sensed transmission movement so it freaked out

Just got off the phone with my salesman at the dealership. I have a meeting with the GM and their lead master tech after work. They are taking it seriously in that regard but they still say nothing is wrong at this point...

Just to clarify... you were not using crawl control to enter the garage, correct?

I like what you are thinking. Will mention this to the tech tonight. I would think that would have thrown a brake or check engine light...??

You are correct. I was in 2wd, transmission was in drive.

I'm wondering did you check your brake fluid? Wonder if like the trans fluid maybe that's not topped off..

No I did not. Not that checking the brake fluid would hurt anything but I didn't want to touch it. I knew with the peddle being fine after they would have a hard time figuring this out. I didn't want to change anything in a hope they could duplicate the problem.

The ABS system turns on the car-with-wavy-lines-under-it light. That light seems to flash with the pulsating from what I've felt it do when off road. Maybe the light behind it is activated by the pulsating and it never pulsated.

To be fair, there still is fancy electronics running the drivetrain, but you have a manually activated physical disconnect between them.

I didn't see any lights come on but when it failed to stop I wasn't really paying attention to the dash. I was looking at the front of my truck almost to the work bench and making sure my hand found the parking brake.

not to be an ass, but perhaps you pressed the wrong pedal? Check the bold print.
