I debated on buying one and learning myself, but no idea where to start. Like should I go TIG or ARC ?

Think MIG would be the best to start with. That's what my dad has. Got a stick welder too but I've never seen a clean line laid from it. It always wants to stick.

I need one for the land I'm always wanting to fab things up and the barn needs fixing up. Need to run 220 out to the barn though only have 110 out there now but it'd be nice to be able to have a multi voltage unit for projects. My dream is to turn the 600 sq foot barn into a big workshop for woodwork and metal work and truck building

Edit: @Timbo89 aren't you running yours on 220 though? Maybe I could save some cash and get a Hobart 190 instead

220 is the way to go. 110 machines just don't have enough ass for some of the projects we do with our trucks.

Ive heard learning w stick is the way to go. If you can make a good stick weld, then the tig/mig will be easy. Not from experience, just what ive heard.

This is how they teach you in school. GMAW (MIG) and SMAW (stick) are a little bit alike, but not much. GTAW (TIG) is nothing like the other two, at least to me. In my opinion, just learn which one you want to do and don't mess with the other ones.

I wish I took more of your guys advice on the welder lol. The 140 is nice, I just don't like being limited to 1/4" steel now that I'm actually learning and understanding more how all this works. The hobart 190 or 210 will be next welder

This. I've essentially upgraded twice to get to where I am now. Now my machine is way too big for what I need... which is perfect.
