I placed the order for our Owners son on 01/15/2016 and it has a VPC arrival date 04/27/2016..So I expect to receive it the first week of May JUST short of 4 months

 

My sales guy just reached out to me and said "they have not accepted our order yet"

So what is the process of Toyota accepting orders?
I suppose i just expected me to put money down, and them to place the order, and Toyota say "ok, accepted and start building"

Should I source out of Gulf Region, for faster turn around.

I guess 4 months isn't so bad, I'm getting close to that since they accepted the order.

 

The dealer has to submit a Vehicle change request and check the box for special order.. On the 20th of each month special orders are received by GST and usually within a couple weeks we are notified an approx. production date...If the order was not accepted then they missed a step

 

11 total 4 on the ground and 7 on order...I have one on the ground and one scheduled for april

 

I just stopped by my dealer and saw my truck on the special order screen. It has not officially been accepted as a special order yet. In talking to the inventory manager, GST will stop taking as many special orders in the next couple of months to ensure that they get through all of the 2016 inventory. Glad I haven't sold my truck yet as it seems like it's going to be awhile. He showed me where they picked up a 7545 order that another customer placed in late January just this week. It will be made in the summer production run.

I ordered my DCLB OR before Thanksgiving and it just arrived this week. Possibly the best birthday gift I will ever receive. I went through Autonation Austin with Jim Lee. I told him exactly what I wanted and he ordered it exactly like that. So much better that the other Austin dealership experiences. Being patient was the hardest part.

 

Mine is at the dealer in Dallas and we finalized everything this afternoon. They are bringing it to me on Monday and we will sign the papers and turn over my 99 Tacoma trade in.

 

There was a TMF fee that was $1047 on the invoice side of their pricing sheet. I'm told it's called Toyota Marketing Fee. I've seen it at two different dealers now.

 

It's built into the invoice price just like our holdback. I can only see invoices in my region so I'm not sure what other regions charge

 

Is that a negotiable fee then, or is it set in stone? I've heard of others who were told it's a set fee. When you add the $1047 to a good price for the truck it takes it to the not so good of a price neighborhood.

 

It's built in to the invoice price. If you buy a Ford or Chevy, you may get the dealer to eat in to it, but I've never heard of it happening on a Tacoma. Not many Tacomas being sold at invoice. Those that have gotten invoice are probably giving up a little on their trade.

 

Well, invoice (according to the pricing in this forum) for the truck I want would be $36,044 including the shipping. Add the TMF fee of $1047 and the price jumps to $37,091..or "invoice". So if I'm being offered the truck for the "invoice" plus tt&l with no additional fees should I consider this a good price or a fair deal? If I were to be offered the invoice without the advertising fees somewhere out of the gulf states region it would probably cost me somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 to travel and pick it up and drive it back...so that option would only potentially "save" me around $500. Not sure if all that aggravation is worth the savings. Any thoughts?

....curious to know how rare my Taco is?

Would be hard to get a solid number. We have sold 4 2wd and 8 4wd Trd off roads. You add sports and SR5s to that and the number goes up to around 25 infernos just through my dealership. A lot of dealers are scared of the color but not me. Lol
