Where did you source your VHMW-PE? I haven't been able to find any on the internet. I have bearings bought to do drawers but you're making me rethink this and go with a PE instead for the sake of simplicity. I just don't want to spend $60 per drawer in UHMW-PE. What thickness did you go with? I was thinking 1/8", but it probably could be as thin as is practical to mount.

I got it from Tap Plastics in Portland when I was down there last. All 8 pieces ran me ~$60. That's actually more per piece than it would have cost me a lot of other places, but the shipping and/or tax savings made up for it.

Added felt to the top and scored some black Formica for the drawer fronts from a friend. Ready for the first serious trip in just about a month from now, except rooting through my gear and figuring out what's still good that is.

There's room for one adult to lay diagonally (hooray 5 ft bed!), so I'll very likely sleep back there when out solo. I have a couple of downright decent tents for travel with the family.

My wife and I used to sleep quite comfortably in my old '93 on a similar platform. Now that we've got a kid (5), cramming all of us in the back just seems like it'd be a disaster, even if we had the length. Plus I prefer the shorter overall length and didn't even consider a configuration without a manual trans. Tents are good. I miss my old truck...

For long haul vs short crawl
I have to sleep corner to corner in my 5 foot bed as well. My girlfriend and I have slept in the back on random occasions and it was slightly uncomfortable but this past weekend it was the 2 of us and our 80 pound dog! It was too cramped, I really need to look into better sleeping options with the truck.

Finished up my fridge slide this weekend. Removed the rear passenger seat and built a base platform and slide. Pretty happy with how it turned out. Still have a few more bolts/spring nuts to add to the unistrut that's bolted down to the truck to support it and level the base. Other than that, it's complete.

From what I put together, they banned a member that was deleting his threads and erasing a lot of valuable info, so they banned him. Next thing ya know, site goes down from a DDoS attack.
