The service manager gave me a call today with the happy news, a new frame is in order for my 04 double cab! I was fearing this was going to be a nightmare to get done, never imagined it being this easy! What all can I expect them to replace besides the frame, leafs, and A-arms? I'm really hoping they drop a new exhaust in there since mine is about to disintegrate from rust. Also, what can I expect to pay for a timing belt job? Plan on having that done while it's there, figure it would be cheap since the engine will be out of the truck and easily accessible to work on without all the crap in the way. Do they go through and replace a bunch of the fluids throughout the drivetrain? My skidplate is really rusty as well, will that get replaced or no?

No on exhaust, no on skid plate. Not really much savings on timing belt. The book tells how many hours to do the job. The book doesn't care if body is present or not.

You will get too many suspension parts to list with new frame.

Congrats and take care of that truck.

New shocks and coils by chance? Definitely needs new shocks, if not, I will make sure and have new ones installed during the frame job. The current shocks are pretty damn rusty and are probably the originals so I imagine they are tired and ready to be retired. The leafs aren't in terrible shape, but new ones will probably make it ride nicer and more even.

Buy them ahead of time and the mechanic will put them on. Shock don't come with a new frame.

You are on your own for that question. There are many different shocks. You need to know what you plan on using your truck for. Go from there.

Okay, thanks, will be looking into that. Will probably just buy the timing belt kit and have them install it then, probably be cheaper to go that route. The OEM kit costs around $230 dollars and I can't imagine labor being that much since it shouldn't take them much more than an hour to do with the body out of the way. Hell, I could do it myself with all that stuff out of my way. Timing belts are easy, it's just getting to them that's the hard part! I'd offer to come in and do it myself but they probably wont let me haha.

The timing belt replacement will cost the same labor even without the body on the frame. They use a flat rate book that tells them the hours it takes to do the job.

If you're stock ride height I think most people will suggest the bilstein 5100s. I plan on a 2" lift and will still go 5100s when the time comes.

I called 3 local Toyota dealerships and they wanted anywhere from 600 to 700 to do the timing belt and water pump replacement. After doing my own research I found that buying all the oem parts myself will run me around 300. To me it is worth the extra 300+ to have the pros do it and you won't have to worry about having any hiccups along the way.

If you play your cards right you can get a hand job too.

My dealer offered to do the timing belt for 1.5 hours labor and clutch for 1 hour labor. Never hurts to ask

When my frame was replaced I had the timing belt and water pump changed and they only charged me for 1/2 the normal labor.
They will replace the fuel lines, brake lines, e-brake cable, leaf springs, lower control arms, and numerous hardware.
Here are a couple pdf's with a list of parts they replace.

Well, after a long wait, I dropped the truck off at the dealer yesterday for the work to begin today. Should be done by the end of this week, hoping to have it back this weekend. Really miss driving it!
