Just curious if anyone has any experience with a throttle body spacer. Ihave airaid intake and flow master exhaust and I wanted to know if this will make it sound any differently from now and if it will add any horse power. I live in CA so im limited on performance parts unless you have friends or family in different states.

They don't work according to everything that I've seen posted here and a couple of other forums. The intake spacer does add a very small bit of power, but you'll hve to decide if it's worth it. Non-CARB'd though.

TB spacers are 100% pointless on most vehicles after the mid 90's when Throttle body injection died and port injection became the norm.

Now an Intake mainfold spacer (like the one XTP) sells makes a difference. It creates longer intake runners for more low to mid range torque / hp. I popped one on my truck and noticed it doesnt pop out of 5th locked as much any more.

As far as it not being carb approved.... the smog check guy would have to take off the engine cover, and with a flashlight know what to look for.... my black one looks 100% like it should be there.

I tried the AFE and Airaid ones. The AFE is the quietest but the Airaid only whistles part time and isn't really that loud. I think I may have thought I might have known a difference in throttle response or maybe the low end. Could've also been the four extra shots in my coffee that day.

If you want to try it, I have one you can have for $55 shipped (airaid). Bought it used for that and I'll pass it on. Has gasket and mounting bolts. Does not have the relocation tab for the left engine cover mount, but doesn't really matter.

IIRC, it was around 2-3k'ish, the higher the RPM, the higher the pitch got. Then it would go away. Wasn't really that bad and you get used to it in a week.

Remember the pictures of the black Tacoma on the dyno during testing with and w/o the intake manifold spacer? ;)

My truck was the black six-speed '05 used for the dyno runs to see if the spacer actually made any difference. I've still got the spacer in place.
