Why are you going to 4:10's? Do you plan on lifting (bigger tires)?

There should be an axle code in your door jam sticker.

I'll be curious to know how it works out. How soon will you be you doing this? My 98 has a 3.42 2 pinion open diff and I've been thinking about going to a 4.10 LSD but I'm not sure I really want to. In my case I'm thinking it might help it do a little better job towing my boat, especially on steep ramps. I've been hesitating because the truck does a pretty good job as it is and gets 28 mpg hwy unloaded. It's my daily driver and I run on the hwy a lot so I don't want to risk screwing up my hwy performance and fuel economy unless I think it'll make a huge difference in towing performance. Keep us posted. Or, if others of you have made the same mod I'd like to hear about it.

and to blackxpress, it wouldnt get as good of fuel milage with the lower gear ratio. but it would definitely pull better.

You have an A01A (lower right on the sticker)
    7" 3:42 gears, 2 pinion open diff.
