Right now I'd say it weighs in at about 25-30lbs. It's a mixture of aluminum and zink plated steel superstrut. It's very stout!

Also this is my under the tonneau cover
ski/ Snowboard rack I came up with. Bought 2 cargo bars at and attatched a Yakima ski rack to them I bought off EBAY. I was able to keep my snowboard in it up and out of the way all season. The bed is a little short for my 168 skis (short bed)my wifes fit. Ski rack cost me under $75

That cargo bar is a good idea, think it's strong enough to hold a mountain or road bike?

I havent taken mine out since i popped it in, but wasnt worried as i know with a little work i could get it out. But, i thought i that i could use that "extra work" to my advantage and store some emergncy cash underneath it. Is it a safe, no, but it is a deterrent that a grab and go thief would ignore.

you could drill holes in multiple places on the sides, and have two bolts or pins which would slide through and into the space between the bed and tailgate as different stop points.

I think it could, I have already been thinking of ways to do it. You can really crank them down because the bed is not metal so it does not dent. Also the bed has natural stops as you can see in the pctures it can't slide down and depending where you put it forward or back.

I have these bars and also use those natural stops, but, sometimes they still get loose. I bought some of that non slip mat you buy in rolls for like cabinets and such. Placed that behind the feet of the cargo bars and haven't had a problem since.
