Been on these tires for a few days now. For the absolute most part, I love them. Everything I was worried about didn't quite come true - but it is there.

Diameter - I went from a 32.1 to this 32.8. I was hoping the extra .7 would make a difference visually, but at a distance it's hardly noticeable. As I was researching new tires, diameter played a huge part in my decision, because I thought the Hankooks looked small. Not to say these Coopers look small though. They just don't look that much bigger than the Hankooks I had. Now, up close, they look 100x better! Very aggressive look. Love it.

Weight - went from 38 lbs to 58 lbs a tire. This is a hard one to gauge, as I know some of what I'm feeling in the peddle is pure placebo. This truck was never nimble even on stock tires, so every time the truck downshifts or it struggles to accelerate, it's easy to blame it on the Coopers. But I know that's not fair. That said, I do believe I've slowed down a bit. But I'm not at all disappointed. The truck drives 90% as it did before and I have no issues with these on my daily driver. I'm not doing mpg calculations because I don't care about mpg. Even though it's my daily driver, I only drive 6-7k miles a year. If I drove hundreds of miles a week and never had much intention to off-road, then maybe I'd rethink these tires.

E-rating - The Hankooks were P, so similar to stock. Yep, these Coopers are stiffer. They're currently at 38psi. But this too I'm fine with - because I also believe it's not just the tire to blame. A month ago I upgraded my suspension, and honestly I got more stiffness from that upgrade than anything else. Especially the AAL in the rear with no weight in the bed . The really small pothole-like bumps are what's worse. The kind that rattle any car. Anything with some heft to it though, the suspension and tires just eat it up. It's awesome. It's a tradeoff, that's for sure. In the end, this truck with these tires still rides a hell of a lot smoother than our Kia Sportage with its low profile tires. That thing rides like a f'ing Flintstones car - but my wife doesn't seem to mind it. :notsure:

Here's what I dislike most about these tires, and it wasn't even something I was expecting. At highway speeds they feel a lot more floaty. It's hard to explain, but the truck feels to want to drift left or right, and it takes a bit more concentration to keep it straight. Not sure if this is due to the extra sidewall or the bigger lugs, but it will take some getting used to I imagine.

And I'm pretty sure I do have the right-hand pull. If I set it straight and let go of the wheel, within 3 seconds I'm over the line. It's not anything I notice while my hands are on the wheel though, so it's really no big deal to me.

I'll need to trim a bit more. Wheels turned going over large humps generates some loud rub. Will have to figure out where exactly it's happening and pull out the dremel. I'm at 3 degrees caster.

I plan on going camping in a week or two here, so I'll be able to take these off-road then.

Google really is the answer to that. "site:" is a great way to narrow it down. Here's what I did...

"site:tacomaworld.com show off your stt pro"

It's the first hit if you type that into Google. Sorry guys, but it's true, the TW search feature just blows compared to Google lol

Yep, this all sounds about right.

If you lower your psi about 10 pounds you well feel less floaty on the freeway and have less stiff of a ride. Also, if you didn't get an alignment after adding the tires then you likely get more road wander from the change in diameter.

I personally run these tires overinflated (37 to 35 psi) like you do on roads, as it gives better mpgs than running them at a more comfortable pressure. For legit offroad use, they need to be down to 15-20 with unloaded truck, 20-28 for truck loaded with weight.

Yeah, don't worry, my google-fu is strong. I just happen to lack the motivation and initiative of a kung-fu practitioner, so I'd much prefer to have the TW search be a custom google search. The added convenience would be use of things like "search for posts by member" or "search this thread only" or "search titles only!"

@Chux I decided to put that mount you sent me to work again today. Thinking about expanding on it to make it a little more sturdy, but it's working great.

Got another alignment this morning. Took them awhile, but they said the tire sits a lot better now and shouldn't rub. They got me up to 3.7 caster and everything else at zero. They had to play with the lowers too. We'll see. Haven't really got a chance to test it, but hopefully it'll be better and I won't have to trim.

The caster was immediately noticeable. Steering felt stiffer and the truck tracks like a train. I like it! I also think the right-hand pull might be gone too - but I was only on the highway for a few minutes...

It's nice having good alignment guys.

Nice, glad to hear! That last statement is very true.

I didn't get an alignment when I got my truck, I didn't even get one when I put on 33in ST Maxx. I then put nearly 10k miles on the truck still without an alignment.. Finally, after installing my lift i got one. Oh boy, do I feel spoiled rotten now!

After a few more days I'll revise my previous statement and say the truck drives......... eh, 75% as it did before. Yeah, these tires are heavy. And it's noticeable. But I'm still happy - just gotta give it more pedal. Can't wait to go offroad so I can justify these beasts.

I'm jonesing for a set of these Cooper ST Maxx in 255/85/16 for my DCLB. So much money going into my truck right now though! lol I'm currently running 265/70/16's so I'll have to get a 5th ST Maxx so I have a full size spare.

Can anyone attest to whether the ST Maxx 255/85/16 will fit UNDER the truck still? Or do I need to get a bed mount for a spare?

@Kyitty id say it should fit. I previously had a 285 under the bed along with lots of other people on the forums and the diameter difference between 255 and a 285 is barely noticable. I'd say t will work but mileage may vary. To fit the 285 I just bent the two brackets for holding the tire steady towards the front of the truck a little bit
