Then op, there you go. Get it replaced then trade it in. If i was toyota i would want a rusted tacoma as a trade in either. Its just part of the safety concerns .

I have just seen first hand how Toyota is as a company, and I don't mind chiming in to support them.

Soooo, have you even contacted toyota to see what they'll do for you or did you jump straight to boo hooing on the internet? I see posts all the time where people are still getting frames replaced with or without prior rustproofing if they got a good dealer

This sounds like Toyota does their part, but you need to do yours and not expect the dealership to wipe your butt. I'm sure if you would have taken the time to register the car properly and recieve the notice on the frame recall this would have been avoided very well...

Haha, no worries. I do tend to get pretty defensive of people bad mouthing Toyota (I have nothing to gain from posting here) I would just like to point out for the record after 12 years look at a GMC, Ford etc forget rust issues you will be on your second engine...

My truck just turned 15 this year. It had all types of armor welded on it, I drilled holes in the frame to put skids on, shit even a new front crossmember was welded on. Ever since I bought the truck in 2012 I researched this rust issue and the potential problems it could cause. I also made sure to buy a treated truck. I was very proactive when it came to vehicle maintenance and doing MY research. Guess what? My truck is sitting at Toyota, waiting for a new frame, and I am driving a 2015 in the mean time. They are being more than helpful with the replacement and are doing everything they can to make it right.

Bottom line, the fault is on you, not Toyota. Quit being a dip shit and passing the buck.

This. I'm also waiting on his response to if he lives in a snow belt/road salt area because if so then I see it as partial responsibility of the owner to do proper care to the frame and if something looks suspicious from said salted roads then take it to dealer and say, "Would you look at that! Won't ya just look at it?!"

Sadly, not much on the frame rust issue. They rust from the inside out and it was already concluded that the company that made the frames for Toyota used cheap metal that reacts harshly with salt. It's almost impossible to keep it from rusting in a salt belt state. That being said, Toyota has done nothing but try to make it right.

It has alot to do with the undercoating. My bros ford ranger has a very nice and thick undercoating from the factory and mine has pretty much nothing but black paint. Luckily i live in California.

I was member before this happened, will be a member long after it's over whatever the result. What I am not is a pussy like the lot of you who let people walk all over you and do nothing beyond calling a few names and then go off on your pitiful way. Unfortunately the only way we get to keep our rights these days is to fight for them...

Yes, I have done my part and am continuing to pursue it. I have been working through the dealership and through corporate, and did not start "boo hooing" until TMC said it is not their problem. Also, if you read the posts you are talking about (assuming you can read) most of them are about 2005+ vehicles.
