I wish they would replace the catalytic converter and the rusty ass shield. I had problems with a rattle and that was the culprit. Rust made the hole bigger than the bolt.

LOL Dev. I used fender washers to secure the heat shield and a wire coat hanger to keep the shield around the converter from rattling!!!

non I just got it march 30th 2012 and need to pay it down some first.
My 2005 is getting a new chassis right now as well. It wasn't safe to drive till replacement, so they are paying for a rental car.
I'm more then happy to put miles on their cars.

Good deal B. The other day when I dropped off my truck I said, if I refuse a loaner for one day......give me a free oil change. They did!

I just bought an 07 two months ago, before I signed the papers I noticed an exhaust leak, muffler had a big rust hole. Didn't think much about it nor did I know about this rusty frame stuff going on, now I'm nervous to crawl under it tomorrow and look at the frame. It only has just under 54,000 miles!! Wish me luck!! Lol

They replaced the muffler at no charge, because I said I wouldn't buy it unless they fixed it!!

Hawkeye, I think, as long as you get your Taco to a dealer for frame inspection BEFORE the 31st of this month, you should be covered.

So if we buy our truck used we are still eligible for he replacement? I have a 2007, looked underneath today and saw some rust but not sure if it's worthy of replacing.

You guys need to check out this thread, 109 pages of information :) https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/frame-rust-recall.263311/

BTW, an oil change is included with the frame swap. The dealership actually makes money when you use their rentals, Toyota Corp is paying for it, it doesn't come out of their pocket.

It doesn't matter if you are the original owner, if it's yours, and you get it inspected and it fails before the end of the March, = new frame.

Hawk, I hope they do the replacement and make things right for you.

While I got the part list for what is included I'm having trouble trying to determine what it all includes. They told me at the dealer that as long as it didn't require extra labor they would put new parts on for free during the rebuild.. I don't have a fortune to spend but I would like some advice and insight as to what to purchase. I know there are numerous threds but I've searched and searched. If someone could please link me I would appreciate it!

The only thing I had them put on extra were poly rack bushings from Wheeler's. They had it apart anyway, and did it at no cost.
