Well I've been doing some thinking lately and I really have my eyes on the new 2017 Trd Pro. I own my truck outright and would like to either trade in or sell privately. Preferably I would like to trade in because I don't have another vehicle to drive. Does anyone have any suggestions on dealers in the Tacoma/Seattle area? Also any tips for trading in my vehicle and what to look out for? I bought the truck for a heck of a deal because I paid cash. So not getting top dollar on a trade in isn't a HUGE deal but I want a fair price. 2007 Sr5/MT 4x4 with 55,000 miles, already had 3" lift installed and 33" tires I got it for $13,500. He was asking $18,000. Truck has clean title. Currently at 127,000 with brand new 33" TOYO R/T. Anyways looking what you guys think is best route to go as I've never financed a vehicle before. Thanks for any help and all opinions!

Contact Chad Morehouse at Toyota of Kirkland. Dude goes all out for you (tell him Jason sent you).
They gave me a great deal for my trade and you save the difference in tax when you trade in, too.
Say they give you 14k for your trade... that would be $1,372 taken off of the tax of your new truck.
So if you actually wanted 14k for your truck, you'd have to sell it for AT LEAST $15,372 on the open market to break even... plus your time and hassle.
    Hopefully that all makes sense.

Also, finance through a credit union... better rates, better people, better experience.

All this being said, I've heard great things from Doxon Toyota in Auburn and Heartland Toyota in Bremerton.
I might have been able to get a better deal through maybe Heartland but ToK gave me a lot for my trade and I didn't have to drive too far and Chad somehow found my exact truck in the area and went and got it that night. Called him on the 10th, drove home on the 11th. How many people have you seen in these forums that have done that? Most are still waiting it seems.

Anyway, had a bunch of stuff done to it... one stop shopping/convenience. I'm satisfied.

Stay away from Titus-Will and Look Larson. Both of those dealers suck.

    Oh, and about the Pro...
    My 2 cents...
It's a bit overrated, imo. You can add about anything it has to a regular TRD and even go aftermarket and get better parts for less $$.
Dealers will mark these up for sure and availability/price will probably be near ludicrous.
No more power... just different suspension, neato badges and different paint for the most part... meh.

Not trying to be a downer.... if you're really that into it, get it... just sayin' :D

Thanks for the reply man that is some really helpful info. Like I said I'm new to the vehicle finance game. I completely agree with you about the PRO being maybe overrated and able to do better upgrades on your own for cheaper but I really wanted just a small mild lift but high quality suspension and the PRO does that. It also has leather which I wanted this time around and it has a 6spdMT W/JBL and no sunroof. It's like the perfect package I could put together. If I didn't get the pro I would just go with an SR5 and do upgrades on my own but I like the warranty and keeping the truck stock if I'm buying new. I also wanted a DCSB. When do you think they will come out with 2017 trucks?

Damn that's a long wait... Have you had good luck with your 2016? How's the JBL? I was blasting Ozzy in my sr5 today and I love the way my stereo sounds. I would be happy if the JBL sounds as good as my stock system does now. Even after years of abuse. Of course I'm sure it does just sayin..

Might be a bit far south for you but i5 Toyota in centralia gave me a fair deal at 250 over invoice on a TRD OR DCLB and were great to work with. The sales tax is also a bit less in Lewis county. 5 star Toyota in Aberdeen offered me the same truck for 100 over invoice however I already put a deposit with i5. Checked with every dealer from Portland to Seattle and virtually none would come off of msrp and if so a small discount. For me my credit union and Toyota had the same rate of 1.9 Apr so it really doesn't make a difference.

Just picked mine up from Heartland in Bremerton. They will price match anything as long as you show them another offer. I got mine at invoice. Top notch dealership. Definetly worth the drive.

    Toyota of Puyallup.

I bought my 2013 from them and my 2016. They also waved extra costs which I accumulated when I leased my 13 and drove way over the mileage alotted in 3 years. I traded in for my 16.

I am with everyone above. Buy the Offroad package and then do the upgrades your self. That's what I am doing on my Offroad.

I am sure that the price of the PRO will be expensive for not much more additions to the Offroad package. The hood skewp is ugly and hard to see over.

    Just my .02

I don't understand why everyone buys the off-road package and then changes out the suspension and gears??? It doesn't make sense isn't that what you are paying for in the first place? I guess you get a E-locker but for what I have put my truck through I don't trust the e locker. Good friend of mine broke his in the snow where there's really not all that much torque on it compared to rocky dry terrain.

If you're contemplating buying a Tacoma from Canada (British Columbia) stay away from Sunrise Toyota in Abbotsford, BC

They'll try their hardest to screw you out of money on your trade in. Didn't work on my wife and I. It felt very good to look the salesman and dealership manager in the eye, drag on the silence while looking them up and down, turn heel and walk out.

They called us shortly after we left and a couple times after that to get us to come back in until I picked up the phone and told them to not call any more we will not be buying a truck from you.

They also hid the truck we wanted on Toyota's computer system and when asked by another dealer to ship it over, they denied it's existence (dbl cab manual trans white with tech package)

Ended up getting a killer deal, saved $3500 (better trade in price, $1000 off the MSRP, Free accessories, free undercoating, free upgrade to platinum on the warranty tier coverage) after all was said and done at West Coast Toyota in Pitt Meadows BC. I honestly felt like we scored a great deal on our truck and we LOVE it. Currently at the dealship for first service and getting more free things that I would normally have to pay for... Like hats and coffee mugs for the wife.

Really impressed with Toyota right now but also cautious because I know one day my coverage will run out and they rapings will begin.... Which is about the time I stop going to the dealership haha

For me it wasnt much more money to just jump up to the off road package from an sr5. An sr5 DCLB 4x4 with the tow package was only like 1500 less than the same truck in an off road, especially the way they lump features together.

Consider all that u get with the off road standard that an sr5 doesnt: nav with larger screen, 120 outlet in bed, qi wireless phone charging, machine face alloy wheels, multi terrain select and crawl control, e-locker, approx 1 in taller with upgraded suspension components. Plus it just looks a bit cooler and for resale people might want the TRD. That's quite alot! Considering some of those things would be impossible to add later like crawl control (even though u may think it a gimmick).

As far as I know the axles and e-locker have been upgraded for the 3rd gens and i haven't heard of anyone having issues yet. I also haven't heard of many people upgrading the locker or gears but I could be wrong. The truck seems to be appropriately geared to accomodate larger tires.

My goal is to put on the trd pro suspension components once they become available. I like the idea of keeping parts specifically engineered by Toyota on the truck.

I bought from Burien Toyota. Didn't get invoice but paid in the left most 25th percentile according to Truecar.com. Ask for Jay Lee. I bought a DCSB OR. Truck showed up more or less when he said - although it came with the tonneau cover that I didn't want.

I'm glad OP started this thread because I was about to ask the same thing. I'm about to get off a 7 month deployment and I'm looking to trade in my 09 TRD Sport DCSB. Does anyone have any recommendations for good dealerships a little further up north? I live on Whidbey Island but I'm willing to drive to seattle area if it gets me a good deal and the setup I'm looking for

I'm lucky enough to live in Bremerton and deal with Heartland Toyota. I just picked up my 2016 DBCB, TRD Sport with full tech package yesterday that I ordered in Jan. They gave me a real fair price on my 2016 SR5 with tow package. I only paid $10K cash difference for everything, tax, license & some dealer add-ons that I picked. (Like any dealer they will try to sell you an extended maintenance program. The key is to go ala-cart and just get the items that make sense. For example the Crystal Windshield treatment in the NW because of all the rain. It is like a bonded RainEx treatment that sheds water and grit.) Also as noted in Heepupo's post, you will only pay sales tax on the difference in value between the two vehicles if you trade in. This is a Washington state law.

It was a very positive experience with great customer service including checking the notorious AT fluid issue. Note: this is my fourth purchase from them so as a returning customer perhaps I have a bit more leverage. But I would not be going back if they were jack-asses so that says something right there.

    My Vehicles from Heartland:
    • 2007 Prius used
    • Traded in on New 2010 Prius. Wife still drives it. 53K miles.
    • 2014 Tacoma DBLC SR5 with tow package. 16,600 miles when traded in. (Financed through my CU for 1.79% APR. As noted by wyant above.)
    • Traded in on 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport. (2014 was paid off so title was clear.)
Good Luck! I have only had my new truck one day but I love it already. My only quibble is I liked the color blue on my 2014 better but that has nothing to do with Heartland Toyota.

Hey Break, See my post about Heartland Toyota. Bremerton is a Navy town and they treat active duty military very well at Heartland. Let them know. I am not military but have heard this from other guys I know.

I ordered mine last Oct from Roland Toyota in Everett via their Internet Sales dept. They gave me their best price in first email while another dealer's price was MSRP+$500. Contact is Doug Lafave, douglafave@rodlandtoyota.com. Never hurts to get prices from a couple of dealers.
