I had to fill up yesterday and this tank included 157 miles towing a 6x12 trailer with 2 atvs on it and ECT on. Total weight was about 2,180 lbs, give or take a few pounds. Totals miles on that tank was 313 and the average ended up being 17.2 mpg. Towing was out on the highway and the rest of the miles were my daily commute to and from work.

First fill up yesterday, had 297 miles on the tank. Avg was 17.46mpg with three days of idling for one hour waiting for the kids. Mostly flat Florida roads, with about 1/3 highway miles, 2/3 stop and go with long stretches of 50mph.

I have 1200 mi on it now, DCLB V6 auto and I'm in Western Pa with a lot of up, down & around and more start & stop, up, down & around. Getting between 15.8 & 16.4 depending on highway miles that particular tank. I'm tickled pink about it, I was only getting 10.5 in my previous 2 RAMS.

I have the same truck, mine has about 2700 miles on it. It really smoothed out and started to run and shift pretty good around 1600 mi or so. I live on a mountain, so that's a wash uphill vs. downhill. I made a 30 mile trip on country back roads last Tuesday, trip average was 23.8. Yours should do just as good. When I'm running around town, I usually just pop it into S-4.

Holy cripes! If I got anywhere near 20mpg I'd do back flips & cart wheels and I haven't done either one in decades, lol.

Why can't you get 20? It's easy. Drive slower
He got gas and then drove down hill

Someone else mentioned they got nearly the same mileage whether they took it easy or drove more aggressively. I tried it - my first tank I got 24 mpg on my commute. I decided to drive a little more normal this week, and I am averaging 20.7 on this tank, taking no thought for saving gas. It runs great and 20.7 mpg is not too shabby.

I started going "slow" to get used to the engine and the way the truck handles. I'm driving much more aggressively on this tank to see how it affects my gas mileage. The next tank I'll do a mix, which is what my driving usually is. Hopefully I'll find a happy medium somewhere.

I do this route everyday and this is the best I've seen, gains about 100' of elevation, 50 mph speed limit. Got lucky on the two stop lights. 6 speed manual dcsb trd or 4x4. Averaging 22 mpg since 0.

IDK why I can't get better mpg. I do very little highway driving, all start, stop, up, down. I'm not heavy footed on the gas at all. Not complaining just saying. Sure would be nice to get close to 20 though.

Just put down 2000 miles over a week. 98% of it was highway, 65-70mph, 75% of it was on cruise control- between Southern NJ and Atlanta). Never saw above 20.1mpg.
