I can see paying that. Very few drive a Tacoma to make their dick bigger and no one drives one to spin the tires through 3rd. The vast majority of Tacoma drivers have one because they do not want a full-size truck, and they want a truck they can depend on 24/7. I would absolutely LOVE the power and feel of my Tacoma if it had the TRD blower on it, no question about it. But $6200 plus install? You'd have to be out of your fucking mind to be able to justify that.

At that price, it makes more sense to just buy a nicer full-size and simply deal with having a bigger truck on a daily basis. Absolutely asinine money for the 'performance' it offers.

If you don't like pigs, I have no idea why you want a GTO.......a LS2 C6 will outperform a GTO in every parameter, no matter who is driving. God forbid you're talking about a GTO with a LS1, you may as well be racing your Tacoma.

I wonder if one can still buy a TRD one at a dealership in Japan for cheap. I'm going there this summer.

i like the way you think. lsX anything FTMFW.

yeah $6200 just doesnt compute well in my horsepower to dollar ratio. i work for Toyota and could've had this kit at my cost which was several hundred dollars less than the 4300 msrp and it still didnt entice me.

Someone get a performance shop to give them a quote for a "turn key" swap. Bet it will cost near double $6k.

I only say "bet" because all of the times I have had that come up in conversation, that has been the number thrown out before any considerations of part sourcing.

A DIY Master could do it much cheaper. Yup. Just have the down time constraints. Better upgraded the known failing points of an LS while it is on the stand. Luckily there is a MASSIVE aftermarket for them which is a major plus. The idea ANY ENGINE swap is much sweeter a tune then the reality of the project. Lest one has the time, knowledge, and resources.

well true....but we're being facetious. realistically though 5.3's are a dime a dozen and can be had for less than $500.00. we're not talking Ls1's, ls2's etc that will fetch a premium. 5.3's are in just about evert truck and cargo vans GM made from 2008 on up. complete drive lines with a trans, wiring harness etc.. $2000 around here. ive sourced them and done research for other projects. its not entirely out of the question to think it can be done for less than 7k.

The one site says there's an option to be sold as a "tuner kit" so that might be the pump and additional hoses. Either way I wont be buying one because if I want to go fast I'll buy another fast car. It would be nice to have one but at the HP per dollar its way to expensive.

Glad I got one of the last ones from toyota. Blower, fit kit,and install was under $5k. Night and day difference though. After you lift and put bigger tires on you loose a lot of power. Slap a blower on it and it almost feels like a v8. Gas mileage came up 2mpg. After the lift I was getting 11mpg after the blower I'm getting 13.5mpg pretty consistently on 33's. Didn't notice much diff after trd exhaust I just put on last month. Still trying to decide on intake right now.... Suggestions welcome.
I really want to get the new arb snorkel and I want to make sure it's all compatible. Definitely want to get it on a Dino soon just too know.

A lift impacted your MPG? A Tacoma has the aerodynamic profile of a bread truck; I don't understand how lifting it 3 inches can make it any worse...?

Why not just give us a flashing program and a file to flash?

I know it would never be as good as a tune based on that specific truck, but a canned tune was the Toyota way and it worked fine, and at a $2000 difference I really doubt the gain would be that significant.

    Not 3"... 6"
Yes it is like hooking a parachute to your truck driving down the highway..
33" tires and 6" of lift will destroy your mpg.

Even with a 6" lift I'd blame most/all the MPG loss on the tires - the added weight of the tire and related rolling resistance is the culprit. It's a shame we can't just bolt your tires onto a stock truck to prove or disprove my theory. Maybe you'd be willing to roll around on stock tires for a tank or two?
