well shit... changed 1 rear 5100 shock ( too match up with other side that recently got busted and replaced)

didn't account for the allen key hole to be so filled with shit, or get stripped so quick... didn't have a good enough pair of vice grips so I had to dremel a couple flat spots for the vice grips to work while I removed top nut... was all rusted on very tight... or the dealership cranked em down too hard...

finally got my shock replaced... but my buddy was over it so I was putting my wheels back on and my spline drive snapped... doh.

Quick run to store I'm set... 4h later. No block put in. lol. noob problems eh.

So now I'm a little worried to put block in if it took me this long for a shock.. might just leave it to a shop, and cost me some cash...

Now I'm contemplating not even putting the block in... I dunno if I wanna loose the travel, but camping season is coming and I hate the way it looks with a load.

parked level with no load it looks perfect. but any load or a un even ground and its nose high sometimes.. i dunno, I'm flip flopping...

I measured from middle of hub to front fender. approx 22" ... poked my head under to see the shocks and voila , there are 2 empty grooves, and one above. so its 1.75" setting.

I know lots of guys at 1.75" have put blocks in... thats why I bought the block... now Im just being a pussy... frig.

anyone have a pic with 1.75" and a 1" block so I can get stoked again? lol

also I don't think I wanna do a 1.5" AAL as that would be the max lift for my 5100 regular length shocks... I just over extended one I think , either way the rod was busted , jamming into my bed... luckily never poked thru , lol.

but I'm also concerned about putting in a block and loosing flex.. hmm. I havre the block purchased.. they might not even take it back, so it may be decided for me, lol.

ok last question... around how long should a shop charge to install a 1" block ? just so I know how much money I can save with another long day

I'm getting 5100 installed in the front and set @ 1.75, I'm leaving the rear alone till mid April when Toyota replaces the rear leafs to determine if I need AAL.

Maybe longer if I wait till the rear settles.

Currently stock 21 5/8 rear 20 1/4 front; measured on the passenger side.

I had mine set at 1.75 at first but the driving quality suffered a bit imo. It felt like a slight movement of the steering wheel when turning would cause a bigger jerk of the truck than it should have. I moved it to 0.85 a couple of weeks later and feels good now, truck is level too. I think the front was a bit high with the 1.75 setting.

.85 or 1.75 has been on mind the last few days.

You sound exactly like me. I spent hours on this forum looking at trucks with both settings and I felt like each truck was different the more I looked. Everybody has a different preference to what they want and like. Whichever you pick try it for a while and if you don't like it try the other setting. That's what's cool about the 5100s. So far I like mine at 1.75. Looks and rides great.

Knn intake kit , lce performance headers, aftermarket wheels , bilstein 5100s 1.75 front lift , 1 inch rear block lift
If your gonna do a 1.75 front lift , also do a 1 inch rear block so your truck can look right at level. Thats what i did on my 2013 taco single cab

I've decided to 1.75, recall rear leafs in April will be the gauge weather I do AAL.

Unless.... I read anymore threads on TW!! I need to not look at this site till I put them in. LOL

I did the 1.75" setting for mine, and I think it worked perfectly. Depends on your configuration and how much factory rake you have. I had a lot, 2.25" rear high. Now it sits 0.5" rear high.

Edit: I also only have a 3-leaf pack.

Nice. I almost got that color but went with white. Your truck looks nice at that setting.

Hello, So I have the front going to be set at 1.75" with stock coils and a 1.5" rear AAL. Will this look level or close to it with a slight rake? Thanks

Thanks man, yeah I wanted a manual and that's the only color they had available. Yeah I know that post is right in the middle. The driveway is straight, I guess you could say that the front end is a tiny bit lower than the rear but not that noticeable. And that's with the 4 leaves pack on the rear..

You'll have a decent rake, as long as you don't have anything extra in the back, like a camper shell. Should be approx. 1.5" higher than the rear. Factory rake is around 2".

Hey, sorry to bother but where did you purchase your 5100's? I don't really know where to find them and every time I look them up I get like 6 different price differences?
