I test drove a 2016 Sport this morning and the field of vision was horrible! I'm 6' 3" and couldn't see crap with the rear view mirror in the way. I don't think the goofy hood scoop helped matters any (I am shooting for a SR5 or TRD OR which won't have the scoop).

Is this normal? I'm still driving my 1999 Tacoma pre-runner, so am I just used to that? Would I adjust to the mirror placement? The drivers seat was as far down as I could make it go I think.

I don't think it's stupid at all. I think I'm on the taller side, and have been driving the same truck for almost 18 years. So I was thinking that maybe someone could give me some insight on that. Not sure what you are referring to me asking about "adjusting the mirrors", unless there is some kind of magical adjustment button for the mirror that totally blocks my vision when I'm driving a new 2016. Maybe you should learn to read.

And no, my momma don't cut my crusts off my sandwiches. But clearly yours failed at raising a decent polite human fucking being.

I'm 6'1 and do fine with the off-road hood. Sucks the seat doesn't lower

Thank you for some honest feedback and for not being a prick.

Maybe I'll give it another go with a different truck without the scoop, when they get one in stock. Maybe that will help.

There are a couple of folks on TW who sell 'mirror risers' that move the mirror up a couple of inches. Might check to see if they fit the 3rd gens.

Thank you for posting this. I did not know. I find the stock mirror to be way too low for my tastes. I will try raising tomorrow.

And, OP, consider not blaming the whole site.

I also jumped from a 1st gen to a 3rd Gen and can add the following:

The view out the windshield is more obstructed because the A pillars are thicker due to airbags, the mirror is lower in the field of vision, the hood longer and if you have a sport, the scoop also blocks visibility. Rear visibility is also more obstructed but you can remove the rear seat headrests to make things easier. I added fisheye mirrors to my side mirrors to help in seeing around the larger truck.

One nice thing about the 3rd Gen that you don't have on your 1st gen is the backup camera, makes backing up easier.

And you can add a cap/topper like I did and then consider just removing the rearview mirror altogether.

Your attempt at humor was straight up rude. A lot of people have this problem, and that's why a mirror relocation kit exists. Instead of insulting him, you could've referred to one of those kits or keep your mouth shut. Let's try to make TW a welcoming community, not a circus.

Did your guys' parents never teach you the life lesson that responding to idiots is all they are really after and ignoring them ruins all their hopes and dreams?

OP, to answer your question, I'm 5'5" and don't have an issue with the rear view mirror blocking my vision out the windshield, however I could see how this could be problematic for a taller individual. Toyota had made the windshield at more of a steep angle it seems. I have blind spots in my truck when driving and I honestly don't think I'll ever get used to it. However I still love my truck and don't regret purchasing it.

There are mods you can do however. Put a toggle on the rear camera to activate at any time and install a front camera in the grill with a toggle as well. Would be useful for offroad if you didn't have a spotter or didn't want to use one. Good luck

I had the same issue... Once i figured out the mirror can pivot on the windshield side i pushed it up as far as it would go. Much better

If it makes you feel better, we really, really, regret it.

But hey, someone's got to feed the trolls.
Are you completely sure you're not a film star? Maybe even a low-budget comedy slasher type?

I hope I didn't come across as trolling when I said I was considering removing my mirror. I did get a Leer cap today, so rear view is pretty poor now.

In high school I had a Wink five panel rearview mirror on my Jeep and that was awesome. You can still get them. They look ridiculous at first glance, but really work well.
