I had a similar issue when I put Huskies (or Weatheratechs? Can't remember) in my Forester. The problem went away pretty quickly; either I got used to fully depressing the clutch or the mat got dented down. Do make sure the Huskies aren't on top of the OEM carpeted mats.

I have the huskys, and they do limit the last 1/16 inch of travel or so. The clutch switch is depressed at the bottom of the clutch travel, so I simply cut a little section out of the mat where the clutch pedal hit. It wasn't necessary, but it does make it so that you don't have to have the clutch depressed into the mat in order to start the truck.

Great, I figured as much. Thank you both for reassuring me, I'll play around with it a bit and see if it goes away.

I love both. For my truck I prefer a Manual transmission hands down. I like my wife's automatic when I drive her SUV just for the change of pace.

Don't feel bad, I did the same thing a couple times during the first thousand miles. This is the first MT I've had that has reverse on the near side since a 3 speed when I was 16. I've made it a habit to keep the arm right at the gate now, haven't done it since. Scared the hell out of me the first time I did it though, I just imagined slamming into the car behind me like an idiot.

I've done it also. Reverse should be right and down not left and up. I also have only had 4 and five speeds and the location of reverse is hard to get used to. I thought the location of the parking brake was going to be the difficult thing to get used to but it is the location of reverse for me.

Yeah this will drive you nuts used to drive a 6speed at work and a 5speed for a personal vehicle. Reverse is on opposite sides in the two. :annoyed:

Lol, try getting used to a weekend car with a dogleg 1st. Shared a 928 with a friend for a couple of years. I would invariably try to pull away from a light or two in reverse every single time I drove it.

    Ive got a 04 with a 5spd and a 14 with a 6spd mt... Everyday is a struggle remembering reverse.

When i switch from the 5spd to the 6 i often find myself in 6th gear when i wanna back up...luckily i always catch myself before letting off the clutch

My wife has a 6 speed MT car and to put it in reverse you have to push down then up and left. This way you can't mistake it for first. I've had my 2016 mt DC sport for 5 months now and I don't have any issues with accidentally putting it in reverse.

so i took delivery of my trd or dcsb manual and i got to say i love it. way better than the auto i test drove. i ordered my truck on the hunch the manual would be better driving. so for those on the fence. if you like driving manual vehicles this thing dose not disappoint.

I actually ordered mine without the rack but my dealer messed up. I refused delivery so they took the rack off the price.

    Hi Guys,
New to the fourm, ordered a DCSB 4x4 offroad. Its a manual transmission. I opted for the manual because the automatic seems to have a lot a sensors which will fail one day. Most engineers i know who have over 300k on their trucks have a manual

On rennlist, a porsche site, they beat to death PDK, or porsches automatic, which really is a automatic manual transmission.

IMHO, the Tacoma seems like a wonderful truck, but the technology isnt even PDK close.
So the dispute over auto/manual is moot.

get what you like, its your truck, auto or manual, you chose.
