What are you at the dealership for?

If you're currently at - or were recently - a Toyota dealership:

    What are you there for?

How was your experience? (Friendly service, insightful staff?)

    Was your problem resolved?

    - I'm here at West Coast Toyota in Maple Ridge for my 1000km service (with 4200km on the odo)

    - My experience so far has been great, I was 15 minutes late cause I just switched to night shift and woke up late for my appointment. They were understanding despite the inconvenience for them. I mentioned a few concerns cropping up from the forums, namely a lack of grease on the drive shaft u-joints. The service guy said he's personally familiar with many of the 3rd gen issues since he reads the forums himself. They're currently washing my truck as part of the service which is really nice.

    - my main issue was simply a squeeky window wiper, they pinned it as the wiper blade itself so they just replaced the insert. And secondary was my concern with the lack of grease on the driveshaft u-joints. Everything handled professionally and in a timely manner. I've been here just over an hour and the truck is just about ready!

Oh and free coffee and WiFi. They're renovating this location and I'm still nice and comfortable. Just wish they had an open bar.

10/10 I purchased my truck from this dealership and in the future will only be dealing with this dealership despite having a dealership closer to my house.

Let's hear your guys' experiences please! Curious to see how Toyota handles themselves elsewhere in the world and if they go the extra mile or not

Same experience at my Dealership. Its been rebuilt and has three service lanes. Plenty of food and drink while one waits watching TV or at the Food Bar, WiFi available as well, Makes the Chevy dealership look like the 1970s as it is old school and has no space to grow.

Life is better when one has a great relationship with their own Dealer

Took mine in in for the 6 month today. Asked them to check the tranny fluid and u joints. Got a call from the service adviser that the tranny fluid was good but they found a coolant leak when they were checking the fluid level and they are trying to determine the cause. Said they will report it it Toyota Corp. Went up to get a rental and talked to the tech working on my truck. He told me do not push grease into the u joints until it comes out. Only give the grease gun a couple of pumps. I'm happy with my dealership so far. It's not Lexus type service but so far so good. Driving a 2016 Corolla S and it's pretty fun.

Awesome to hear! I was pretty sure my dealership would service the greasing.
Also, I have great news tho everyone! While I cannot attribute this to the greasing of the u-joints for 100% certainty, I will say that whatever Toyota did on my first service has made shifting through gears on the manual so much smoother! I have been wondering why a brand new truck feels like a clunk on each gear while shifting... I've always driven standard for the last 10 years and never had a problem. So whatever they did whether it be the greasing and re torqing of the drive shaft flange studs, everything feels so much smoother.

Way to go Toyota! I'm very pleased!

Well, you asked....Stopped in at dealership today to ask how much to replace a broken rear wheel stud and lug nut on my 2001 Taco. I had to laugh at "service advisor" and leave when he requested $100 and 45 minutes. Come on, it a $5 or $10 part and takes under 10 minutes to install if you have a lift.

This same dealer has been fine on servicing 2012 4Runner for oil changes during 36 month warranty.

By the way, why has Toyota's 36 month/36,000 mile warranty in 2012 changed to 24 month/24,000 miles in 2016?

I have a 16 M/T TRD OR and am experiencing the same clunking noise while shifting sometimes and when I coasting over bumps in neutral. I want to take my truck in and get them to re-torque and grease drive shaft but don't know how to word it or if I'd be able to get them to do it. Can you post a pic of service ticket? Did they cover the re-torque and greasing under warranty? Did you just ask or did you explain the noises?

Love our brand new Toyota Dealership as its very large with nice amenities: hot popcorn machine, pop machine with 30 flavors, ice cream and ice slushies', kids have an arcade/play area, TV's and a lounge/seating area, free robo-car wash with every service, and a shuttle service to anywhere around town just to name a few.
My dealer tested for low tranny level at my request (a long expensive procedure) and found it was ok. Then I ask them about the u-joints needing lubed, but they said the new driveshaft's are all internally sealed.

I've dealt years with West Coast Auto Group. Wife has bought 3 Mazda 3's through this dealership, me a Ranger and a Gen 2 and 3 through their Toyota dealership. They are A++ in my books. Both sales and especially service.

Just to set the record straight though, they are actually in Pitt Meadows. Us Pitters hate to be in the shadows of Maple Ridge.

Funny thing though, they are remodelling to add Scion to their dealership which we now know is no longer offered, so I'm interested in what they do with that new space.

I have the service ticket at home, I'll post it later tonight. Sorry for the wait. But I honestly didn't mention to the service tech that I was experiencing clunking while shifting because I didn't think it was an issue... If my wife was there she would have said something. I think the service ticket may provide more details. I'm just at a friend's house for the evening so keep an eye out for the ticket later tonight.

Seriously tho, whatever they did fixed the noise that I originally didn't even think was an issue. So I would advise everyone to go in for your first service and request a fix because it was obviously not normal!

I actually just put a deposit on a blue DCSB TRD Sport at West Coast Toyota, my experience with them through email and in person has been fantastic and I'll definitely be sticking with them for service and any parts I need.

And .... back to the waiting game for me.

My bad Pitt Meadows is right. I talked to the service department about their expansion.... I believe it's now just becoming a larger in door show room.... Or maybe they'll be showcasing a diesel engine that will NEVER find its way into a Toyota? One can only wonder

I was at the dealer that I purchased from to have mudguards put on Thursday, after being there for 1 1/2 hours one of the guys in the service dept came out and informed me that they ordered the wrong mudguards and that they would reorder the correct mudguards, I told them to not order them because I was going to buy them elsewhere.

I will buy some WeatherTech for less than half the price that they wanted for OEM

Haa-ha, no worries on the M.R. part of the post. As for the diesel, don't see that happening, and as far as I'm concerned, not interested in one anyway.

In the dealers defense, He was probably giving a worst case estimate. If you brought in agreed to the 100 dollars, they did it in 10 minutes and came back and said it will only be 50 dollars, you would have been real happy. Without seeing what they were up against he was doing the best he could with that number. Also, are you confusing the warranty with Toyota care, because all the 2016 Tacoma´s I see have 3/36 basic warranty. The toyotacare is 24 months.

    a) $100 was not a worst case estimate, it was their quote.
    b) Seeing what they were up against? There's not much to see; you jack up the vehicle, remove 5 remaining lug nuts, pull brake drum, replace broken stud, reassemble. I watched Firestone dealer do a different lug nut a few months ago in 5 minutes for $20.
    c) My 2012 4Runner received toyotacare through 35,000. Toyota has chopped it 33%.

After reading through the relevant threads on this issue, it seems like the proper way to do this is to pump until grease is pushed out. This method allows for old grease or contamination to be forced out and be replaced with fresh grease. As far as I'm aware, that is how the seals were designed.

Makes sense to do it this way.
