    installing a new fence

    cedar pickets, currently wet.

thinking of swelling and shrinking through the seasons, they should not swell any more than current, so if i was to put 1/8" gap between the pickits, they should never touch?

If they shrink a lot , you run the risk of them splitting . Checker head , stainless ring shank headed nails are what I usually use . Depending on how big a job it is , and how important it is to you that they don't split , in a case like that I've pre-drilled the boards for the nail locations with an oversized hole about 1/2 again the shank diameter of the nail . If you are using finishing nails from an air nailer , usually there is enough give in the nail to avoid most splits but you run the risk of the boards cupping and pulling through the nails .

Yeah , I got that , 1/8" will be fine because if they are green they will shrink more than they will ever expand again . Just pointing out that if they are green and are nailed firm , then try to shrink , you will likely see a lot of splits

I had a small leak from a washer hose that went unnoticed until the spot showed up on the kitchen ceiling I cut out all the drywall and redid it all.

The drywall was only wet under the valve box and too the floor level then had water stains on the ceiling in the kitchen along the tape joint.I may have gone a little over board with the removal of drywall but I don't play when water is involved...

I wanted to make sure it was dry as a bone and no mold anywhere treated it with anti bacterial stuff sealed it up and moved on...

What is that pipe that comes in? Main water supply?

    How old is the house?

Looks like you have PEX piping for domestic water..
