I get your dilemma here, I went back and forth on the SSD size alone for a couple weeks. For what you are doing the 13" will most likely be fine power wise and you can always get a monitor and docking station if the screen is too small. I find the retina too glossy to edit photos and video on anyway but I also work on $2k Eizo monitors so I am a bit jaded.

At the coast for the week!

Got LR 6 running smooth thanks to the Adobe 'Chat' guy. The graphics card upgrade was a must. LR 6 program updates. That one seems odd, as I upgraded from the website after install, so not sure what that was about. Also, a code change was made that I wasn't sure about. Anyway, seems to be up and running. Now I just need to learn how to work with the 'Raw' files. Now that my camera is set to jpeg/raw, where do I go now? So much to learn.

This photo is reworked a little, but still jpeg.

Working with raw files just makes editing a bit easier. From my understanding, with jpegs you're editing the 'face' of the photo. With raw you're editing actual in depth features of the photo. I really don't know how else to describe it but it will give you more control over basically everything 'within' the image.

For instance upload a raw file and then a jpeg of the same image then go in and tweak a certain setting (saturation/clarity/highlights) or whatever. You should be able to tell the difference fairly quickly. That is my understanding at least. That's what I've noticed when I export edited images as jpegs then import them to LR again for editing. Just doesn't work as well as just editing the raw file.

Edit: this should help answer some questions better than me rambling about it.

I met Ryan today down in Redlands. I just said hi, told him he had a cool look, and asked if we could take some photos. Turns out he's a super chill guy, not too giddy, not too serious, just real friendly. I'm going to do a shoot with his BMX crew here soon, all because of a quick, "hello!" Don't underestimate the power of just saying hi :)

Been a while since I posted on here. Here are 2 images of my little project I started. I will be photographing most of the parts I get that will be included in my tundra build. Feel free to follow my build or see them on my instagram @DC_Pixels.

Little project I am working on is macro stuff, something I have never really tried in depth before, and I don't have a macro lens. I had tried the turning a normal lens around in the past, but chickened out. Today I decided to really give it a go. The dof is crazy. Had fun though. Trying to hold the lens still was a challenge. If I were going to do more of this I would definitely look into getting one of those adapters. Anyhow, here are the results.

Well being that was the first time I had welded tubing in quite a few years and I had been up 24+ hours when I did both I'm satisfied with it until next paint time. :D

Love the Lake Powell shot too. Only slight change would be to straighten the horizon. Looks slanted down to the left to my eye.
