4 ton or 6 ton jack stands?

Can I get away with using 4 ton jack stands to install a readylift or should I get 6 ton stands?

 

Considering the truck doesn't weight nearly 4 tons, you'd be fine... ....

Plus that rating is per jack, and if you're using multiple jacks you're distributing the weight across them.

Napa had a real good deal on 6 ton stands awhile back so I picked up four. This is one case where overkill can't hurt, hey it's my ass under there! Whatever don't get the units that are stamped metal with pins that go through holes to adjust for height,if they still make them.

 

You can never have to much support when lifting a truck..................

 

go big or go home!! usually the higher rated ones are also taller, so that helps too!

 

Get the ones that lift the HIGHEST.

If they're both the same height - can't go wrong with either.

If it were me, and the price difference was minimal - I'd get the 6 ton.

 

Although the 4 ton is plenty, I'd get the 6 ton just for the peace of mind. Also, you never know what your future applications may be.

 

Sounds like a personal problem...couldn't resist. Get the one that is best fit for your truck.

 

4 ton=8000lbs. Your truck doesn't weight anymore then 4000lbs.

 

I'll need even more lifting / height as I get older. Gravity is evil.

 

Is there a thread or info with pics somewhere here where i can see the best and safest place to place the jack stands under the truck ?

4 ton stands are more then enough, but why not spend a little extra and get a much stronger 6 ton jack stand. For me personally, it is a no brainier. All I use, and all I'll ever use on a truck.
