The Grapevine, TX dealer NEVER has any on the lot. I'd be curious to know how many units a month they are actually selling. Six months into the model and no inventory. Is demand that high or is the supply just low?

That deal in Texas would be $35,800 OTD. Can't get around the sales tax here.

Just bought my Limited last week in St Louis. Sticker was $40,993. I paid $39,000. And every dealer where I went looking was in the mood to sell these trucks. Found similar deals on other trucks, TRD Sports, Off Roads, etc... for the same type discount. They didn't initially come down, but if you get up to leave, the pencils get sharp in a hurry.

My dealer is a no haggle dealer. Best price is posted on each vehicle. I paid 300 over invoice.

My advice, review the invoice price of the truck you want with options. Print and bring this with you to the dealer.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...costs-master-list.388345/page-6#post-10736986

Now whatever price you are willing to pay, $500 over the invoice price as an example, tell the dealer that one of their competing dealers have offered you the Tacoma for $550 over the invoice price. "If you can beat it great, if not no big deal I'll just go back to the other dealer". Tell them you are ready to buy the truck at the other place, just wanted to do a final check to make sure you are getting the best deal. It also helps to have your financing in place first this way they don't try and up sell you with their banks.

I ended up paying $350 over invoice for my TRD OR. Very happy with my deal. I'm telling you just having the breakdown of the invoice prices tells the salesman you've done your research and won't have to take his word on what they tell you is a good deal.

I ended up getting about $4000 off list on my TRD OR with tow and tech packages. I was really on the fence about trading my 15 Frontier for it and told the dealer I was going to stay with my current truck. Then they dropped the price another $1000. What worked for me was being noncommittal.

My truck does have a few stupid options like the exhaust tip and the side steps that I could have done without.

They know they will make 6% if they sell AT the Invoice prices we are seeing, Honda dealer told me they make good money if they sold every vehicle at Invoice, Invoice today is not what it was in the mid 90's, where it was 14% spread between Invoice and MSRP. That has been cut in half over the years and none of the "buying services" ever talk about that,

Dealers did not take a 6-7% haircut on every unit sold. They are getting that money on the back in in the form of bonuses and whatnot.

Excellent advice. And don´t go to the dealership and fall in love with the truck, at least don´t show your emotions. Act like its just a truck and you have not fully decided a Tacoma is right for you.

I think it varies in different states. cause in texas its pretty cheap from what I heard to buy trucks there. here in WA the sales tax is what kills us but I bought my fully loaded 2014 SR5 dcsb 33,400 out the door. and that was because the when I was negotiating the dealer was 31500 out the door and me and my pops was ready to leave work to go to the dealer with the chat message on hand but the made the call and made a mistake. technically we could of still got it for 31500 but I wasn't trying to fire someone over a sale. so we got it for 33,400 OTD. and from price point sale it was probably the best I got it in WA. I say just chat with a dealer and keep haggling. eventually they will slip.

I paid sticker because I wasn't willing to shop around or wait. They also had to order it and there was none in my configuration in the city at the time.

local dealership wanted 40k+ttl for an AC TRD OR 4x4 P&T, flew to Bend, OR and got the same truck for 34k+ttl.

local wouldn't budge and actually marked up the second time i called, Bend was able to give me CostCo price 325$ over invoice and cut me a couple other small deals (basically incentives for flying up within a week), they also reimbursed me for a flight i had to cancel due to the truck not being delivered on time.

I tracked the truck I bought for over a month that sat on the dealers lot. MSRP was 36,299 dealer invoice was 33,963 including freight. I paid 34,115.36 which was 152.09 over invoice. I live in Reno but had to go to Sacramento to get any kind of deal.

You will generally get a better deal on buying a truck they have on their lot, but with that said, I managed to get $2500 below MSRP on my DCLB TRD OR 4x4 w/ tow and JBL even though they had to order it. I would encourage you to work via email with several dealers and get them to tell you what their price basis vs invoice would be. Don't start with a specific truck and say "what is the price for this truck?", start with a couple options and tell them you want to know how much they will sell it for relative to invoice. Then narrow it down to the truck you want with whoever offers the best price relative to invoice.

Elko Motor Company, Elko Nevada. I ordered minew through them and they found it at a dealer in Montana. A fellow TW member who bought after me said they had upped their Tacoma prices to 500 over invoice but give them a call. It was supper easy transaction.
