Tacoma XSP-X DRL's

I just purchased these LED DRL's that are seen on the Tacoma XSP-X package.

Has anyone installed them on their Taco?

From what I understand I will have to paint the housing to match my Taco's dark grey color and then I will install them.

Any info is greatly appreciated, regardless, I will update with quality of part, paint and installation.

I really like this feature from the XSP-X but when I looked at the price of the XSP-X I was like....yeaaaaaa, no. I'd rather Mod my Taco than pay the dealer for this Mickey Mouse package. (No pun intended if you have this model and were able to afford it)

 

Those look similar to mine. Since my fog lights are wired to turn on with my ignition, I wired the red wire to the fog lights and the blue wire to the side marker. When the lights are on, the LEDs dim.

Yes, you do have to paint the plastic trim piece body color.

The DRLs look nice on your truck. Did you have trouble getting them painted? How much did they charge you to paint them? Any trouble with wiring? What type of switch did you use?

 

I have found some of this parts already painted to match OEM colors, some colors are backordered (like mine MGM) , the kit look easy to install and this kit is used for some dealerships (here the installation video http://youtu.be/UIKI5KEvDOc)

Mine is the XSPX, but with the price thing, the sticker price on mine was a couple grand less than the TRD Sport sitting next to it. Could be that mine is a PreRunner though.

 

Just picked up a used kit from Amazon warehouse for $60 Couldn't pass up on the deal.

Did you guys use the provided DRL switch or tap into the DRL lights? (I have a TRD Sport)

So as much as I hate to.bump an old thread. I got these the other day. However I don't want to wire them into the switch since I'll be needing the only two spots I have left from the factory. My truck says DRL on the turn signal. Anyone wire it it that way? Thanks

 

Me also I want them to come on with DRL and dim when headlights come on

 

Anyone know where you can get this kit at a reasonable price now? This Amazon link is dead and it looks like the kit is as much as $500 from dealers. I'd much prefer buy it and self-install route.

There's many painted options and also the unpainted if you decide to go that way.
