Spoke to ARB, Bilstein, and fox reps and asked about 2016 specific products. Fox already has shocks for the 2016 tacomas on their catalog, but it is the same for the second gen tacos.

ARB said we should be seeing their BP-51 kit for the 2016 in about 60 days. The rep told me they got to ride and test it out. He seemed really impressed.

Bilstein rep said they are still in development of 2016 specific valving for 5100, 5160, and another series of shocks. He did not want to give out pricing for the second gen application that a lot of guys are using to lift their 3rd gen.

Hope this helps some of you thinking about lifts.

Just a heads up 2883's did not provide any lift on my 2016 DC 4x4 Short bed. Thought I'd give it a shot, ordered 2884's, we will see what I get, looking for about an inch.

wow the information here... mind blowing and very informative.
Now on to the post I want to write. I have read a ton of information on different lifts, and tire size arrangements. Seems you can't go wrong any way you go. Some are better than others, while others are very comparable with give and take in various areas. Seems many people like each method and what they have meets their own needs.

I am still torn on if I want to just level the front of my truck with some Bilstein 5100's with ko2 265/75r15 and call it good or if I want to spend just a little bit more and use spacers and blocks with ko2 285/75r16 to get an extra inch of lift in that area.

I do not do any serious off-roading, some easy to moderate off-roading, mostly just some trails and the truck is a daily driver that will see much more pavement than trail riding. during hunting season it will go down many muddy, rough, pothole ridden trails often though.

I am new to tacoma's and looking for any incite to what may be the better option for my particular needs. I am in a 2016 TRD OR

Coil Specifications:OME 883X: 375mm in height 590 pound spring rate
Approximate lift height on 4wd double cab: "1"
OME 884X: 390mm in height 590 pound spring rate
Approximate lift height on 4wd double cab: 2"
OME 885X: 395mm in height 590 pound spring rate
Approximate lift height on 4wd double cab: 2.5"
OME 886X: 402mm in height 660 pound spring rate
Approximate lift height on 4wd double cab with 200+lbs of additional up front weight : 2.5"
OME 887X: 400mm in height 590 pound spring rate
Approximate lift height on 4wd double cab: 3"

I borrowed this from Headstrong Offroads web page. All light heights are for 2nd gen trucks. So if you subtract the 1" lift from the factory you should get around 1" on a 2016 4wd double cab on the 884's. Also explains why you did not gain anything with the 883's. Hope that helps you.

Bilstein 5160s in rear with Toltec Progressive 3 leaf spring, Bilstein 6112s in the front
Hey gents. Ive always been a Jeep guy and I just picked up my first Tacoma. Ive been lurking quite a bit and have a few Qs. Ive a 2016 4wd 4 door sport in white and have ordered the following.
Toytec Progressive 3 Leaf Add-A-Leaf Pack with U bolts , Bilstein 5160s for the rear which can give me 2".
For the front, Im wanting to level with the back. Im considering the Bilstein 5100s or 6112s and my questions are:
    1. Can I run these in the stock springs?
    2. If not, will the OME 885s work?
    3. What setting do you guys recommend on the 5100s to achieve my desired ride height? Ive seen so many different answers and I want to get it right. Thanks gents!

Hi, im new to tacoma's, but not really new to lifts/levels. Please excuse my ignorance here, ive read though most of this thread but i still have a few questions. Please bear with me here as these are kind of all over the place too. Im looking at all my options on this new truck. For what its worth the truck is a double cab long bed TRD Off-Road. Don't even have the truck yet, hopefully itll be in around 4 weeks. Use of the truck will be oilfield work (washed out dirt/rock roads), daily driver, and pulling my SXS to offroad parks. I will likely use the truck at the off-road parks on mild trails but nothing crazy. And I will probably add airbags for towing, and if the lift stretches the bags too much ill likely use the daystar cradles or make some new brackets.

First: I have a set of 275/70r18 duratracs laying around from my past truck. What would it take (size of lift, wheel backspacing, etc) to get these to fit on my truck?
I have a feeling its going to be more work than I want to do on this truck, and I really like the stock wheels, so i may be better off just selling those and getting something that fits the stock wheels.

Second: Will this kit http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/NEW-3-Lift-With-front-coils-rear-options_p_233.html work well with the factory bilstein shocks? And what size tire would be recommended for this size kit with stock wheels? I see they offer a kit with adjustable 5100 series shocks for about 300 more, how are those shocks different from what comes on the TRDOR?

Any other general suggestions? I'm not looking to get every inch possible out of it. I would just like it to sit up a little higher and allow me to run larger tires. Basically I just dont want it to look completely stock and the long beds look good with a lift.

    Thanks in advance!

I got a 2016 Limited, too. Tell me how the ride quality was affected from how it rode BEFORE the lift. What was the cost of the parts to do this and where did you get them?? This is mine in stock form. I'm really thinking a tire size one size bigger and maybe 5100s set at .85 on the front and standard 5100s in the rear may be more to what my liking... Opinions???DSCN1603.jpg

Thinking about either doing 2in spacer in front and 1in block in rear. or just bringing the front up like 1in or so. I have 265/75r16 bfg k02's on it. trying to decide what would look best.

From what I've been reading 2nd & 3rd gen tacos suspension system didn't change. Other than it coming stock 1 inch higher. I've seen Icon lift kits available for 3rd gens since its pretty much same set up. I personally went with King Shocks, but that's just my preference.

A small handful of select mods.
That extra inch is from different springs and the shock has different valving in it. This why companies are "still in development" on their approved lifts for thr 2016.

I have a Boss 2.0 in the front and 1 inch block in the rear. I am sitting with a front rake. The back is about 1/2 inch higher. I have 17x8 FN FX-Pro wheels and 275/70/17's. I have no rubbing driving around town. The front will rub at one point if I brake hard and turn(it touches slightly on the air-dam). If it was an issue I could trim 1/4 inch off the corners of the air-dam, but not needed IMO. The Boss lift rides FANTASTIC. I noticed it IMMEDIATELY! I changed the front first for a day, it was very obvious. Much more stable while turning. It doesn't pitch and roll. My MPG is 18/15. The bigger tires are noticeable at first. After a couple of weeks, no big deal. I had a spacer lift on my 2nd gen for 6 years and loved it. I wanted to maintain the factory comfort. The Boss 2.0 rides BETTER THAN STOCK! Just my 2-cents.

Decided I am going to leave rear stock and just do a spacer up front for shock. Now the question is, do i do the rough country 2in spacer? Feel like that will lift the front too much. Or Toytec has a 3/4" and a 1/4" that i thought about stacking and doing. Or there's revtek with a 1.5" spacer, but has a diff drop, and seems unnecessary for only 1.5" thoughts on the best one?
