Anyone recently done Serpentine belt 05-11?

    about to change my serpentine belt. need help locating tensioner pulley + any suggestions to ease the process.

    Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
    First bit of advice, replace the belt from underneath, secondly use a Goodyear Gatorback belt. I seem to recall that locking the tensioner was a pain. If I remember there as a hole that I loaded the spring and put a nail or drill bit in. I did this on my '06 so it's been a while.

    The routing is crazy if you're not used to seeing it, which I was not. I made a drawing from underneath before I removed it.

    ok if I'm right the tensioner is the one between the water pump and the crankshaft?

    I did mine from the bottom and cut down an old screwdriver to use to lock the tensioner in place.

    The 4.0s have a timing chain. The engines name VVT Variable Valve Timing. As for wether it needs to be changed. No clue

    One can never have too many light bars.
    4.0's timing chain doesn't need to be replaced unless there's a problem. Many trucks on here have over 300K on their 4.0's on the original chain.

    i highly recommend using the genuine toyota belt (you can find it on Amazon around $30). I went through two belts from o'reillys, one of which was a gates and had noise issues. the belt from toyota has a woven (almost canvas look) backing to it rather than smooth rubber and is treated with what appears to be talcum powder....no issues and correct fitment is guaranteed.
