Did most of you have to order directly from the factory for a manual transmission? Imagine there aren't many available on dealer lots.

Can't order from the factory. But yes lots of us ordered. To "order" a dealer has to find a truck that will eventually be built and allocate it to themsleves. Or they can track down one that is sitting on another dealers lot and trade for it. That's what mine did. Stay strong if you want a manual as the dealer will try to convince you to buy an auto.

Mine was on the first dealer lot I test drove. Everything I wanted on that truck. Sunrise Toyota in Abbotsford BC. I will not rest until their name means dirt!

They essentially told us they didn't want to take our trades, and sell us this truck because they thought it wasn't right for us. Went to west coast Toyota in Pitt Meadows BC, they contacted the first dealership to get the manual shipped over. They denied it's existence so we were forced to wait 8 weeks (which became 6 weeks) for one to be built and shipped. totally worth the wait, but I will NEVER deal with sunrise Toyota. And I advise anyone else in the area to avoid them at all costs too

I had no issue ordering mine. Thought the dealer would have communicated more with me. Build date was a month before I received it.

I almost had to "order" mine. My dealer found the exact truck i wanted in a MT at another dealer 360ish miles away but they wouldn't give it up at first. was going to take 8+ weeks for my truck to be built and delivered. I got a call from my dealer when i got home from my test drive that day and they ended up making a deal to get the truck they had found and it was delivered a week later.

That sucks. I went to N Shore auto mall. Told them I wanted a dcsb MT sport. He asked what colour, and I had it in 6 days.
    Highly recommend N Shore toyota.

Yep, ordered mine from the dealer. They had zero manuals and zero allocated to them from the factory for the whole year. Order was the only way to get one in my area.

I ordered mine in late September and got it built and delivered in 12 days. The dealer did an allocation swap with another dealer, switched the color, and deleted the tech package a few days before it was built. I doubt there are too many out there on dealer lots. They seem to stock lots of auto DCSB Tacos, which they can sell fast.

Holy hell, that's quite the wait. I also ordered mine the end of October and got it the end of november. Tell your dealer to get off their ass and find you a truck!

Question! All of my cars ever have been manual [except for my F150] and none of them behaved like I am about to explain. I noticed in the Tacoma it makes audible clunking noises when disengaging the clutch at low speed, usually when moving in first gear. It seems to behave fine so I'm not too worried. Just curious. It's most noticeable when driving beside a wall.
