I've been following all the vibration threads. I want to buy a tacoma right now, but this vibration problem is the only thing holding me back and something I couldn't live with if my truck had it.

All the polls here seem to indicate a 30-40% affected rate. How can it be that high but these trucks are still flying off the lots.

Most of the general public is not reading this board and don't know about all the problems with the new Tacoma.

Plus, I would add that polls here (while good intentioned) probably are not the most scientific or exact in nature when it comes to results. There are plenty of people who do not own a 2016 Tacoma, let along a Tacoma in general, reading/posting in this section. There is no way to filter out if someone accidentally clicks on a survey.

Bottom line, 30-40% is a guesstimate that you can say with 80% confidence is likely within +/- 20% of the actual number.

That's a joke, but probably not very funny. :hattip:

At this point I think I would possibly buy a new Tundra over a new Tacoma, despite the mpg differences. Its too much of a pain to deal with the dealerships and Toyota on the vibe issue, this could go on for months more before a fix appears.

Sad. I planned on trading this spring. I have a 14 tacoma sport and it is a great truck. Not one issue. It is my 3rd tacoma. Not happy with any of the alternatives.
I guess, for now, I hang onto my current truck.

One way you can think of it, is this... Out of all the 50 or so thousand 2016 trucks they have currently sold, there is really only one long'ish thread on this issue, on all the major Toyota forums. This one. On this thread, there are maybe 10 or so guys complaining about the issue. Out of those 10 guys who brought their truck back to the dealer, the dealers says this is normal behavior.

Many of these guys drove other trucks and notice the same vibration.

Go look at the 'what did you do today with your truck' thread, and you have a much much higher sampling of 3rd gen owners and no one complains about the truck, much less mention the vibration issue if "they all do it"

Also, the truck has been available to the press prior to release and still available to press for reviews. Not ONE single mention of vibration problems. If something like this occurs on every truck, surely some reviewer would have noticed it and mentioned it? I'm not only talking about the big websites. Go to Youtube and look up 2016 Tacoma reviews, and you'll see every Tom, Dick, and Larry do a review, and again - not one mention of this vibration issue.

    Just a thought.

// I'm not saying there are no genuine problems - maybe someone does have a real issue.

Not everyone runs their Tacoma in the narrow rpm band 2100-2300 required to really notice the vibration problem. One could buy and use the truck without ever feeling it, however it may be there, since their driving habits keep them out of the rpm ranges it shows up the most.

Just go out and test-drive for an hour. If you like it, buy it. If you don't, don't. Easy enough.

That's 30-40% of people replying to a poll, but not of people buying the truck. Also, people with the problem are more likely to click on threads about it. I don't have this vibration/buzzing and I haven't replied to any polls.

You are correct to a certain extent, test drive it, inspect it very close, if you like it buy it, when we went out to buy the wife a new CRV couple yrs back, I enountered a brand new CRV with 8 miles on it with a more than partially clogged exhaust system, needless to say we passed on that one, I had the salesman drive another new crv up next to the one with clogged, restricted, exhaust, only then could the salesman see (hear) what I was talking about, so being a new vehicle on a lot is no guarantee in itself that it will be free of problems.

No problems here. Like many have said it is not a vast majority of people reporting this, it is just the SAME one's that keep posting over and over and over with nothing better to do. Thread title is very misleading for one, like it's affecting every truck. Most likely the same nitpicks posting most of these other useless threads...

Or lease the vehicle for a short time, if it has a problem you can give it back when the lease is up, or buy it outright if it doesn't have an issue.

For the prices paid now days for these new rigs it certainly pays to inspect a prospective rig very closely before purchase. I am personally torn between a new Tacoma 4x4 access TRD Offroad and a new Tundra 4x4 TRD Offroad dbl cab lb 4.6L. The Tundra model is a pretty rare to find model at present on the lots, but its out there.

If you don't have a problem with your truck that's great for you!

I noticed my issue from the beginning. I then researched it and came across this thread. The issue is real. The issue is there. If you don't have it and want to come here and bash those that do then I suggest you need to find a hobby. That is the point of this posting. I don't wish this on your truck but if yours develops the problem then kindly deal with it on your own!

Well I for one am very glad the guys with this vibration problem have spoken up on the forum to warn others of what they could end up with, it has slowed me way down on buying any new truck for now.

LOL. Nitpicks, and maybe its real... Interesting perspective, you do not feel it happening on your truck, therefor it cannot be a real issue.

If I happen to make any more progress on isolating this, I'll share via PM to the group in this thread with the issue. The rest of you can wait on Toyota to resolve, if and when it shows up on your truck. I'll find something better to do with my time than post about this.

My truck is being built next week so I will be sacrificing my electric razor to the vibration gods as an offering. :annoyed::lalala:
