i took my DCLB '14 Sport in for some warranty work today and was given a '13 DCSB non-TRD as a loaner. Besides the annoying backup cam in the mirror and the strange look out over the hood without the scoop, I noticed some surprising engine power differences.

The '13 DCSB seemed more torquey and peppy than my '14 DCLB Sport. I don't know if it's the extra wheelbase or not, but I thought that the engine was exactly the same from '13 to '14.

Any thoughts? Not that it's any concern, just curious.

Possibly the slight gross weight difference between the two?

    Interesting.
But I happen to like my rear view mirror cam display. Feels much more natural than looking down at the navi screen.

Yeh, I would definately agree with that if nothing else. There were some engine design changes in '13 but I don't think since. Maybe I'm missing something else too, I don't think the '13 has the loud air pump either.

I had a '13 and I took the cam out of the mirror and put it in the radio screen. I felt that I could see it better.

how many miles on your 14? and how many on the 13 loaner. Break in could be a good factor, one that has more miles will feel more free'd up

If you don't have stock tires on your truck, I'd say that's the likely culprit. Stock tires are light as hell and make for a quick takeoff from a standstill.

10k on my '14 with stock tires which are larger than the other non TRD truck. The '13 has 41k with stock tires on steel wheels that are smaller since its not a TRD.

The bigger All-Terrain tires and TRD rims vs steelies and smaller road tires.

My 2005 DCSB Prerunner with stock tires has always seemed a lot quicker than my in laws DCLB TRD sport Prerunner.

Now try driving an XRunner, you won't want your 4x4 or automatic anymore.

till i try to get up to the ski slope or the camping spot back off the rutted dirt road..... ill keep my 4x4 and auto.

OP differences are likely the difference in tire weight and break in.
