Have only used this feature a few times and only for a few seconds before turning it off. In my truck it just makes the truck shudder and tick. I'm thinking I must be doing something wrong in using this feature.

Has anyone found the downhill assist useful?

That grinding sound you might have heard is normal. It's just your ABS working. I've used it a few times crawling down steep rocky hills and found it to work quite well.

I use it a bit actually. Deep/steep areas are common in my area of the Selkirk Mountains. There's a hill I occasionally take near my dad's house that's so steep I once lost control going down in the winter. I'll take what I believe to be the safer way now and use my DAC if it's real bad. It's under 330ft/100m long but it's insanely steep and I'm just not capable of doing what the computer does with DAC. Anyway, it has it's places if you want to use it.

EDIT: The sound and shudder are from the computer manipulating the brakes. DAC is controlling all four wheels unbelievably fast and dynamically, in relation to variables drawn from throughout the vehicle's systems.

Do all tacos have this or is it a 4x4 thing? If so how do I engage it?

I was gonna ask the same. The only downhill assist I know is a redneck way to start your POS truck hahaha

To engage DAC press the DAC button on dash when in 4 Low.
