A 3s LiPO will allow the truck to run faster than a 2s NiMH. As a beginner, I'd suggest getting a 2s NiMH. Things happen a bit more slowly.

Keep in mind that what ever you choose, be sure the ESC is set up correctly for the battery type.

Finally all back together.. Spent some time getting my alignment all squared away.. Test.. Adjust turnbuckle.. Test.. Repeat. Lol Might still need some tweaking but drives pretty Damn good as of now. Definitely need to fine to my Powerstrokes tho.

If you were racing RC, I'd have some specific recommendations, but honestly these days a lot of batteries are made in the same factory. As mentioned above, Gens-Ace are good (and most carried by Hobbypartz), as are Turnigy Nano-Techs (and most carried by Hobbyking), there is also SPC lipo, SMC lipo, and most batteries that AMain carries. I say "most" several times since you'll always find reports of a bad batch or a bad model. Try a Turnigy, just make sure you select either the East or West USA warehouse, so you don't have to get them shipped from overseas.

Well..... My 6yo daughter had a fun time at the park chasing around someone's RC car and my wife was there with me to see it. This gave me an excuse to buy a toy for myself.

I started out planning on buying a LaTrax Teton, then I decided I wanted full size so I looked at the Rustler or Stampede XL5, then I got looking at the different upgrades that come with the VXL, better controller, bearings and the longer lasting motor. The local dealer was only $5 more than Amazon and they threw in an extra NIMH. After I brought it home I learned about the bluetooth link and the app to slow it down even more than training mode for my daughter to drive and decided to get a real charger. I'm now into this thing 3x deeper than I originally planned and I'm looking at sand paw tires, wheels and pinion gears so I can take it to the beach(I live 15 miles from the coast). This got expensive quick.

I have run 3 packs through it and it tears up the back yard very nicely after adjusting the suspension up.

That's normal. It gets worse the more you look at the hobby shop...then online.

I've got three that are ready to go and drivable: 2 scx10s and a Losi Micro. Five others are waiting on upgrade parts: 2-1/12 Twin Hammers clones, 2-Losi Minis, and another Losi Micro. Then three project boats waiting on parts: 2-Chinese ft007s and 1 jet drive Tear Into that I've gutted and am putting back together. Then there's an additional two more stick built balsa sponson boats waiting on parts.

Edit: forgot about the Losi Trail Trekker that's ready and then the HBX 1/24 crawler in pieces. The plane up on the shelf, too. And the 1/32 slot car to RC conversion waiting to get a motor mounted.

Airbrush, only the last coat to back everything is done with white out of a can. All hand drawn and cut designs.

I gotta ask tho, as I've seen pics of your work numerous times (which is great work btw!) why the same look/style/theme? is that your doing or is that a standard for actual racers, which I'm assuming these are for?
