I didn't take any pics but install took literally 5 mins . Take off plastic cover lay down the mob town plate . There are a couple of plastic indexing pegs on the factory piece that you need to remove . Sand paper and a file took them off in just a few strokes . Bolt factory plastic down over reinforcement plate .

was worried the additional thickness would make the gate hard to close due to contact with bed floor , but it didn't for me . The gate is beefy now and there is no give under weight as opposed to the creaking squeaking and popping before

Hey Nick. Mine will be delivered in 5-8 days. You can check it out on our trip. The Mobtown sale runs through April 18th, so you can order one then if you like mine.

in my experience, i dont know how people are getting these tailgates to bend. At different times Ive had an 800 pound safe on mine, more firewood than i ever should have, a set of front load washer and dryers, and me at 210, and my tailgate is as straight as the day i bought it. Now im not jumping on the thing or bouncing things in the bed. But as long as you are careful, I havnt found it to be much of an issue.

Toyota did make a design change to beef up the tailgate around 2007..

It's unofficial, just for people in the know. I dub thee special. If you buy the ribbed skin (and only the ribbed version counts) we will automatically send you a cap. For special assurance just add a note to the order saying you want the free cap and I'll take care of it.

Buy some sliders too. Those are pretty sweet.

I installed the non-ribbed skin, the tailgate cap, and reinstalled the OEM skin. My tailgate would not fully close after I was finished. I ended up drilling a couple of holes through the OEM skin in the area where the little rubber bump stops make contact with the tailgate. The tailgate shuts great now!

Too bad it's still a crappy design. When my tailgate was open, with one hand I can bend, bent sheet metal. So incredibly weak. And a number of the stanchions were disconnected from the outter skin.

I've got a shell and have sealed around the tailgate with EPDM rubber seal. It's probably going to be a bit harder for me, but your post gives me more confidence. Thanks.
